Slurps up every available core, thread, and meg of memory until my computer thermo cycles out & shuts down. Damn, any slick way to throttle this program down? All I want to do is convert James Bond movies from MKV to Mpeg so they will play on the home DVD player, but it's not useful if my northbridge gets turned into ashes. Awards

No, but I'll look it over Loader. Just wanted a smaller program that would run at night. AVS2DVD tended to hibernate with the screen saver. Had good luck w/GNU programs in the past, but handbrake is so voracious it's going to damage something. Awards

I bet by 15% would do the trick. With that said, you should seriously take a look at Google's Chromecast device, http://www.google.com/chrome/devices/chromecast/. My son and I share our media/ movies and stuff, via Plex/ Chromecast device. This is all done over the Internet house-to-house so to speak. I've been putting my media on 128 Gig USB sticks. They are dirt cheap from Microcenter, if you purchase their brand. Good luck! Labob 1

Windows power management is the way to go, and the easiest solution. Chromecast is lovely if you are streaming HD video from a computer to a video device, not so much when you are working with older dvd players & tvs without HDMI or USB ports. We use thumbdrives for everything around here, even vehicles. Handy having a musical library you can plug into any car/truck you happen to grab. Awards

I love the thing. It has WiFi, and a Wifi mouse.. not infrared or blue tooth. Mouse is married to the device via WiFi. It also has 10/100 and it has as said HDMI. I have Netflx plus my own collection. Someone mentioned Plex. That's a new toy for me. I recently wanted to stream content from my collection and installed Plex. You first use Firefox or whatever browser and install the Plex plug in. It then will guide you through server setting and where content is like movies, music and other. Easy to setup. Then you go to your device mine being the Ruko and I installed the plugin for it and it sees my Plex server and content is streamed like it's suppose to. My Ruko now has my collection of music coming from my laptop Plex server. Some content is on the laptop and some is on my NAS.I prefer to have 0/100 performance so I have one extra feature around my house. These TP-LINK Gigabit Powerline Adapter. This allows me anywhere in and outside my house to have a Gigabit connection to my network by plugging into an outlet. You can add more as needed and it has a range of 300 Meters with 128bit encryption and is a snap to install and expand. Transformers filter out the signal so no worries about your neighbors getting your signal. The other night we watched King Kong in my makeshift drive in theater with the entire setup. I pumped the audio into the car stereo using the Ruko remote headphone jack. Cool feature.... but the tap player kept spitting out the tape adaptor. The Ruko has a USB port to power my little speakers.Dinner and a movie.... I think I was a bit drunkish. <youtube>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEhaisJAZ-I</youtube> Edited May 5, 2015 by hxtr
