I haven't had a new pc since 2006. This one is a XP I have 2 hard drives. I really have been out of the loop with this stuff

Seagate Sata 300G and a 160G. the 300G has everything on it and the 160 has nothing on it.

My new rig will arrive (sometime between now and HELL freezing over) Win 10 Pro with a Samsung 850 EVO 2.5 inch 500G SSD and a Seagate 1TB sata3 64mb cache Hydrid SSHD.

If I understand correctly (what I read) the SSD drive will have all the operating software. Should all my games be loaded on the SSD or the Hybrid?

I have purchased Office 2016, should I load this on the Hybrid?

I would also like to put My old 300 G hard drive in this rig to hold my photos and back up stuff like my Ipad etc. I assume I should remove the XP operating system from the 300G or maybe I should leave it IM NOT SURE IF I CAN TRANSFER FROM PRO 10 TO THE OLD XP Drive?

I"ll have more questions I'm sure.

so you can install the 300 GB hard drive in the new pc and use it as a storage drive. To maximize space on it I would move whatever you want to keep that is on it to the hybrid drive then format it and put the stuff back on it. Your games should probably go on the hybrid drive except for the games that you play the most. Unless you most played games are extremely old, in which case putting them on the ssd vs the hybrid offers no real benefit. When it comes to games hybrid drives offer almost the same load speed as ssd. Office should definately go on the hybrid as it is a bit much.

your case supports 3 SSD and 3 SATA  drives  may have to get longer Sata cables to connect to MB  i'm guessing 30 inches long to fit nice in case

can leave old OS on drive  if have some software that only supports XP that you use.  can boot that XP drive when booting up hit F8 and select that drive to boot and hit F8 again to select SAFE MODE into XP

again when you get it home  before powering up.....open up case and check cards / ram  are seated and connections are good

win10 is  installed  all you need to do is install your software (games, app's) not sure if they loaded Office,

Thanks Folks.

How do I copy my game profiles....to the appropriate drive? I assume my profile and maps are on my existing Hard drive and must be copied to the Hybrid?

I also will be copying my Steam account or do I have to (or should I) download the account to the Hybrid as a fresh install? My COD5 WAW is on Steam and some older Steam games.

My Cod 4 I have a disc so I will be putting this on the Hybrid as suggested. Just copying my profile and maps I suppose?

thanks again

Weed

A classic response .....reminds me of those calls I keep getting from a 3rd world Microsoft support team asking me for my credit card, bank account numbers and my truck keys!

yes weed  Steam will see new system and will have install your steam games again or

Note  on old system up and running  go to steam and in  Library  select game right clik then properties then Locale Files then Backup Game Files  to big enough flash drive

just thought  keeping your old system operational and  connected to your network and transfer files through Network

either way you go  still same time to get steam on new system

edit:  not sure if backup game will keep your old hardware  profile ,  best just reinstall them fresh

There is another question.........I've heard of using my router as a network as you stated. I'll have to try that.

Weed you can back up your profile to a thumb drive using the XI downloader and then reinstall from there after your reinstall.
