XI tags gone since server move

Since the server move my XI tags have just joined my game name, ie instead of mickvette>XI< it now comes up as mickvettexi. I have tried renaming but cannot get the > or < to type, have tried all sorts of key combos but nothing works, any clues?

Server move shouldn't have anything to do with it. Is it like that for both COD4 and COD5?

I only use COD2 and 4, and this only happened after the server move. What I don't understand is why I cannot amend my name again to add the tags, but no matter what combo key stoke I use, cannot get the > or < symbols...

if you are using your players config_mp.cfg to change it you have to give yourself permissions to do so by right clicking on the file then click the security tab

 

Make sure you have full permission

Make sure your config file is not just read only, you want full control.

What OS do you have ?

 

mine is Win7 and the path to C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\profiles\loADER>XI<

 

then open you config_mp.cfg with word after you have given your self full control as mention above

Well did all that, opened in Word, 6 pages of text but nothing with my screen name, so achieved nothing

I've never used it, always use the Z key to speak. This tags thing is really hacking me off now, and since trying to sort it have also lost all my player points too WTF??

are you using the correct player profile??  It should not reset your points either, unless you changed profiles.

perhaps>>>>>find your mp profile rt click and uncheck read only-make changes in game  -then exit game and   rt click your profile again  and recheck read only after to save or leave unchecked

got it sorted, Larsin guided me through, while in game, went to options, multiplayer options, and was able to amend my name and add the XI tags. This only seems to work when you are in game, the option wont work off line. Still don't know why it happened in the first place...some sort of jiggery pokery I guess
