My EVGA 980Ti started to artifact like a mother fucker so I called EVGA tech support setup an RMA and shipped them my card and I had no idea what my replacement would be. I figured it would be another 980 Ti but no, that's not what EVGA had had in mind to send me as a replacement. Instead they sent me a free upgrade to their 1080. That is a free 25% performance boost all because my original card crapped out and started to artifact in my games. This is why I am an EVGA fan boy. As long as my product is within their 3 year warranty for MOBOs and GPUs or 10 year warranty on all PSUs as long as their product has a proof of purchase and is registered to their website shortly after your purchase.

I have had my 980Ti since 08 June 2015. Only took about a year and a half for it to die. That's a short life. The 1080 replacement will only have another year and a half warranty left on it so hopefully it holds up since the warranty goes off of my original purchase date of the 980Ti.

This is the 980Ti I used to have:  http://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=06G-P4-3997-KR

This is the 1080 they are giving me: http://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=08G-P4-6183-KR

BFG used to do that and they had lifetime warrantys on there video cards. It's part of the reason they went bankrupt. Sent in my old 6800gt that was artifacting and they sent me a 8800gtx.

EVGA also has an Upgrade program.Send them your old card + the balance and they'll give you a batter card. My brother sent in a gtx 870 and got a gtx 980 for I think it was $100.

It won't be a 25% performance gain. Real world maybe 10-12%.
GeForce they tried to shaft with a 1070 which is actually worse in real world performance but they argued it's better. He pissed on them though and they found a new 980ti SC to send him instead like he had.

I suspect you are getting the 1080 since you had the classified 980ti which means realistically this card probably won't really be any faster unless you plan to OC it yourself more.
But a 1080 is a good trade I think because even if it was the same performance it uses less power which means less heat.

But yea they are done with the 900 series. Anyone who RMA's something in the 900's should get a 10x0 card at this point.

This is the exact card I just installed.  I previously had the NVidia Geforce 970 (4GB) and would get around 91 fps in COD4 FT.

The EVGA Superclocked 1080 is giving me 125 fps.  I haven't overclocked my CPU or GPU.

It really doesn't make a big difference in my game play because I suck.

But my photography and video editing software rocks now. :)

10% to 12% if I was gaming at 4k. In 1080p depending on the game I could see as much as a 75% increase in performance over my 980Ti. At 1080p in a game like GTA V or Rise of the Tomb Raider yes my performance will only be about 15% better. So I was saying on average the 1080 would be a 25% performance increase over my 980Ti.

I would like to game at 2k in single player games some day. As far as multiplayer 1080p is still the best if you care about how well you perform within the game. If you like to look at all the nice imagery and explosions and die a ton then 2k or 4k is perfect for you.

Noise isn't an issue with my case that has noise dampening material on the front, sides, and top so I can't hear the 6 fans i have blowing in it. It should run cooler maybe but my 980Ti never went over 75C

This is the best case I have ever owned. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811352048

You still use CDs? I only open the door so I can clean the dust filter. Also the door helps keep it quieter and the door can be made to open from either side or remove it completely.

I remember the days I had massive cases. I can have 4 desktops for the size of that thing now.

I think I'm a converted iTX person now. Identical performance at a 4th the size. I don't do SLI which I can see being the only show stopper for people needing a bigger case/MB.

Smaller case also means less air volume to try to move so you can get away with less fans for the same temp/performance. Of course this depends on other things and at a point that is no longer beneficial, for example laptops.

I just like the motherboard variety I have to choose from in a mid size tower. I am not just limited to iTX motherboards. I don't need a full sized motherboard since I don't SLI. Damn, I didn't realize how popular iTX motherboards have become, used to be only a couple to choose from but now there are hundreds... When did this change?
