I have COD4 for my PC and I have a mic, but in-game, when I press my mic button, nothing happens. I'm running the game on Windows 7 Ultimate. The mic works fine, even the voice indicator is moving, but when I try to talk in the game nothing happends. Yes the voice chat is turned on and mic setup in control panel is turned on. So whene I press my mic button the icon for voice chat shows on the screen but nothing else shows up (on map my caracter isn't boxed in voice chat stripes).

I tried to reinstall the game but it still doesn't work.

So any sugestions how to sovle this problem are most welcome.

I had the same problem with my mic a month or so ago.

How old is the mic your trying to use? Mine was about 8 months old and it wouldn't seem to work in game, but outside it worked fine. Check the mic jack. If your mic isn't a USB mic the jack probably isn't working right. What I had to do was go out and buy a USB mic and plug it in the back to the USB jack. Maybe that is the problem you are having.

Well it is new. I've bought it just a few hours ago. I don't think it is mic, because it is working fine. I've tested it and I can hear myself.

You could try raising the recording volume both in-game and in Windows (and any drivers your mic may have come with).

Other than that, I don't really have any suggestions. My mic is really quiet in-game too.

Especially when you update Realtek HD Audio you have to go to your Control Panel - Sound, and make sure in the TABs (3 of them at least)you have the right device to "default" if not right click and set as default. this covers for like 70% of the issues.

Be sure that you have the latest drivers installed especially of Realtek (which rocks btw).

I never could get a mic (by itself) to work, had to get a nice headset.   Is the mic part of your headset or seperate?
