I think there will be checkpoints very soon, I believe they have this in Spain/France/Italy now. Can only travel solo. They will be looking for shopping receipts as proof, and if you aren't near work/the shop well there's a big whopping fine and then who knows what after that.

Unless you advocated that everyone start living in a bubble two months ago this is the case. There are several explicit posts in this thread of people saying things that will lead to greater infection, and if hospitals are overrun, potentially more deaths. This isn't a black or white issue though, it's a continuum. I know several direct family members that share this sentiment. I can see where it is coming from. I don't believe we should do nothing however, but at the same time think things are going too far. Like @Timmah! said earlier in this thread, "Meanwhile, 25,000 people die EVERY DAY from starvation... every day. Where's the media coverage? Not so much, eh?" While we should try to ease the burden on the hospitals as best we can, putting everyone on lockdown, making millions unemployed, and massively disrupting supply chains in the end may make things worse in the long run.

What is your screen resolution set to in windows? I take it you have tried syncing the game with the desktop resolution? Are you using steam or a cd version? Did you use a backup of your old cod players folder at all? Edit - Also when it crashes do you have any function at all on desktop, such as using the arrow buttons to scroll any open programs, you just can't open or close anything, or is completely frozen.

Try right clicking on the cod4 mp icon on desktop > properties > compatibility. Click on "disable full screen optimisations" and see if that does the trick. If not, try also running the game in compatibility mode for windows vista.

Do you believe that governments should do nothing to try to slow the spread? For most people, yes, it will probably be mild and nothing to worry about, but when ICUs are getting overrun and they are having to choose one person over another to have access to ventilation, I imagine that is an awful scenario for medical personnel to go through. The US isn't there yet, but this is what looks like is happening Italy, and what governments are trying to prevent elsewhere.

Was reading this last night. The good old exponential function, reminds of me the old Al Bartlett lecture on bacteria in a bottle, everything is fine until it is not. Pretty easy to brush off for a lot of people not at high risk which is understandable, but if this takes off like the numbers suggest it might, wouldn't want to be one of the people needing respiratory support. What does the CFR rise to without it?

Check if you can adjust your monitors contrast settings, this might make a big difference. If you have an older monitor upgrading to a lower end gaming monitor in the $200-250 range would make a big difference. Also try adjusting your brightness level, you can use the graphics settings for this or instead use /r_gamma in the console which is more precise. There is also nightvision but its kind of shit lol. For the really really dark maps you could maybe try sniping with the thermal scope.

Can we change mp_matmata_v2 to one of the other versions if possible? Maybe mp_qmx_matmata? The current one is random spawns. Thanks.

If anyone has a card that recently stopped working and is out of warranty it is worth giving this a go : https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Temporarily+Repair+a+Lost+Cause+Graphics+Card+by+Heating+it+up+in+an+oven/2240 I got 6-9 months more out of an old card that had died doing this years ago. I know Boomboom got some more use out of his card after I told him about it. It might not work and won't be a permanent solution, but might buy some time. Might be worth a go @X-RayXI.

Should definitely be getting higher then 60 fps, not sure what is causing that, but that will definitely make the game feel laggy. I would have thought even with everything on max with a 27" screen you should still easily be getting hundreds of frames. Having said that, check your /com_maxfps and make sure it is set to at least 125. I'm going to be on teamspeak for the next few hours if you can make it on and we could look at some stuff more quickly.

What size screen do you have? If you know how to open console enter /cg_drawfps 1 so we can rule out an fps problem. Tell me what numbers you get in the top right hand corner of the screen. To turn this off again you enter /cg_drawfps 0.

Had a quick look on part picker and the recommended specs, looks like this meets the recommended requirements for £730 : https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/Vqc6sk Didn't search for too long so there will be some cheaper combos but I bumped up the psu for example. If you wanted intel you could put something together for a similar price. Just need to reuse current monitor and look to upgrade in the future. Although my current monitor (144hz with amd freesync) is currently on amazon for £190. You could also reuse an old ssd if you have one.
