XTeKK , I do believe that all of the XI COD4 servers are 1.7 as our mods (FT and such) won't work with the 1.8 version,  Also 1.8 is just a mod, unsupported by Activision, and not an official patch.  Janey there is a thread that tells how to get it back to ver 1.7, not just sure where it is, but you need to drop back to 1.7.  I would try getting the 1.7 in first before doing anything else.

I got it today and am loading CoD now. I'll need to do that PB trick before I play.

I think I'd go with the ASUS TUF, Mule.
You lose a bit on the GPU and display specs but that AMD 4800H CPU is much better and faster.  i7-8750H vs R7-4800H
AMD has really come up with a winner with their 4000 series CPUs.

What gpu are you running now Wildthing?  And what hard drive are you using?  If you don't have a M.2NVMe I would get the RTX 2070super and add a HP EX950 M.2 2280 2TB PCle Gen3 x4 to use as your boot drive.  I'm running the 2700x and HP's 1TB version and it's damm fast... but I still can't out run Sally as she knifes me all the time.

Stay away from the 3500x if I was you... " Like the 3600, it packs half a dozen Zen 2 cores that come clocked at 3.6 GHz for the base. ... The key difference is the lack of SMT (simultaneous multithreading) support for the 3500X, where the R5 3600 packs 6-cores / 12-threads, the 3500X features just 6 threads, much like the Core i5-9400F "  Get the 3600 as it will do 12 threads which is much better performance.  The cooler that comes with the 3600 isn't the best in the world but there are good coolers out there that are reasonable to add.  Just built a 3600 system for my brother and that cpu out preforms my R7-2700x in games but is a little bit behind when it comes to video processing/converting.

The info here is just a tad old but it goes over the pros and cons of a boatload of CPUs.  I'm not a Intel nor AMD fanboy... I'm a bang for the buck fanboy....

The last two gens of AMD's run a lot cooler than the older ones. The RYZEN 7 3700X now only draws 65w max as compared to the old FX 8350 125 watts.  Amd has come a long way in the past two years.
