Hey my fellow idiots.

Hope you are all well.

Right brief history is as follows.

Bought a 2nd hand graphics card  from a mate to give my pc a bit of a boost.

It got fried and died.

Now have my old Nvidia 7800 GT (256mb) back in.

Rockape pointed me in the direction of an Nvidia 260 GTX (roughly same spec as the card that blew - Nvidia 8800gtx) that I may get mid april.

Does anyone have one?

What are they like?

Power hungry?

Run hot?

You know all the usual questions.......

Many thnks in advance of any replies.

Cheers all.

Sumo.

I have one and they do use power and they run quit warm but it is a great card and I wouldn't get rid of it. I can play Black Ops on high settings without a stutter. Hope that helps.

I run one of these,on my second one,1st one died after 4 months. The 1st versions were 65nm,198 stream processors, the 2nd version was 55nm,216 stream processors called the "core 216".They can run a bit warm without good case airflow and draw about 40 more watts under load than the 8800gtx.Minimum psu requirements from the box are 525 watt with at least 38 amps on the 12 volt rail.

Depending on your cpu,you should see a 15-30 fps improvement in your games.

I have been running the second version of the GTX 260 for the passed year and half. I have the over clocked version as well and I haven't had any issues what so ever.. Great card.

I had one   used to much power   you need   at least 600 watt PSU  and for the price  ( i dont  know  what you pay  for it  )

you can better buy   the ati  5770  used   not so much power   and is direct x 11  ready and the price is cheaper  50%  lower

I self used 5770  know  good card   better as 260   thats  mine opinion

I second No ears....if you can grab a "second-hand" GTX260 for cheap go for it...if looking for a new card, the GTXs 460s and 560TI (look at sales price) are almost twice as fast as the 260...

I have a 260GTX OC and have never had any trouble with it overheating.  I can play any game that I want to - BlackOps, Crysis, etc...  but most of my time is in COD4.  Great card....I would recommend it.
