Well Here it Goes......

My Genesis Clone arrived today......only ordered it yesterday....Unbelievable delivery considering its christmas and it was FREEPOST...

So I was getting all excited......unwrapping this little new toy.....all stainless steel and shiny.......

All seals and threads good..O rings fine.....centre post with stainles steel nuts....SWEET........

But thats where the good news ends for now.

So I watch a video on the net....Aneal the mesh as described...faff about tying to make a coil.....several attempts and alittle loss of patience I finally get a coil on the wick mesh that hasnt broken and gives the correct reading of 1.8 ohms....OMG...excited....

Cover the coil with a few drops of juice and I am all ready to fire.......yes oh yes..almost like foreplay at this point.......

I press the button......set to 6-7 watts and omg...the taste of burnt wire fills my mouth...yuk yuk yuk

Take the cap off and look to find the first 1/8 inch betwwen the centre post and the top of the coil glowing nicely....rest of the coil not getting hot enough......

Back to the internet.....more google.....remove the mesh and burn it some more....make another coil.....cover the mesh with ejuice and burn it off.....

reassemble and get ready for my next attempt......coli now 2.1 ohms...should be ok....press the button...no cap this time just to watch the coil...no hot spot...sweet....put the cap on and vape.....STILL shit....hardly any vapour or taste..no matter where I set my watts or volts etc......

Well thats it get out my trusty readymade CE4..fill and vape.....mmmmmmm nice n easy

 

LOL...gonna retry later when the patience batteries have refilled....BUT...not really sure what to try or do at this point...

 

Didnt realise it would be so hard to do...lol

 

ANY ADVISE would be greatly appreciated.....

try wrapping the coil tighter on the wick..if it doesn't touch it,,,it can't vape the juice on it...just get hot around the wick ..thats why you taste wire..i would think,,,,i have to wait till the 27th for mine so i can't really experiment for you right now..but yours looks the same as mine without the clear tank i went for stainless

Looks pretty effin sweet Hemps...just remember start out at low voltage first..and don't be like me and fry my carto's...i'm loving my zmax v2 ..my sweet spot is 6 watts..with whatever i put on it...gonna start wrapping my own coils soon[27th],,,and coolmd has made his first attempt...but yeah hemp man it looks like a nice mod...let us know

p.s make sure to get another battery or you will be waiting for it to charge between puffs...lol..not good when you're like me...its been three weeks now for me plus a day and im vaping like a champ...i like black licorice mixed with a dry tobacco for all day then French Vanila at night [all 24mg]....what a nice relief from licking ash trays...looks great my man

coolmd, JQ is right u need to have the coil touching the mesh all around, dang its hard to explain, a video course would be nice. but i dont think i can do it, im gona try to find u one that show u more precisely.

 

im wondering how u made the mesh ?

i found one video but this is one way to do it, totally different from mine

im not sure doing it like he does is great, i think he has too much turns and maybe the coil isnt straight everywhere on the mesh.

But my coil is way thinner than usual kanthal

I'd love to make a vid myself, gona think about it

That would be nice Chkn.. i am quite handy with small stuff like that and could use all the tutorials i could get about this new subject..rebuilds...i love the idea..and i can see how clean the taste will be once the wick is oxodized..i am going to do the 3,4 wrap being four wraps on one side with three on the other...all the vids i watched do this..but one.the getcha British guy...he used about five or six wraps..but the chubby guy forget his name..did the three . four wrap and it vaped like crazy so more isn't always better i would think..just as long as you do the correct prepwork..[oxodizing and the heat quench method] all these tips i have watched over and over anticipating my Dec. 27th arrival of my genisis clone..i know i know it isn't the real thing but i will definately get one soon Chkn ..you know me..i can't ever imagine stopping this hobby now...actually i had a bud start with my prodding ..and his ce4 clearo went all pissy today ..he came over after some nicorette and bought one of my emergency ce4 version 2's off of me...so he's getting pretty involved now too...i love this shit...

Lol ..... i really dont care if mine is a copy...so long as it works and dont leak everywhere.

The real gensis is about £100....no way am i paying that for a little bit of stainless steel and some o rings.

Well just an update.......tried again for 2 hours........I anodised the mesh by heating it cherry red all over on my cooker...quenched it in cold water...did this a couple of times.....tried numerous coil wraps...some tight..some not so tight...and still get a hot spot which burns out the wire between the centre post and the top coil....even when it didnt appear to glow and get hot...it did after a couple of draws even at low voltage...3-3.5 volts.....so I am gonna try one more and then gonna give up......the video above the wire seems thicker than my wire...i have .16 .18 and .2 gauge in the kit.........also i am gonna retry and wind the voltage up more slowly as the guy in the video says...DAMN THING...lol

well guys, tried my first ecig...a BLU dispsable in regular flavor...HATED IT!!! not near eough draw and a really really funky taste. Not sure i wanna spend money i dont have yet until i see or am able to try something different and/or better.

well coolmd...mine arrived early ..[today] didn't know it was such a small bunch of parts to mess with...it came fully assembled and i see a hole in the one post...i guess it's the ground but not quite sure...anyways the two nuts at the top of the centre post [one bigger than the other tinier one] are the only ones none that screws down to the silicone grommet at the bottom...maybe it doesn't need one..anyways...i attempted to make one wick and made it too tight,,,gonna try later when i get my chefs torch back from the neighbour to oxidize one...but i had better study this more carefully with a jewelers loop cause them there parts is tiny mate...i have philips screw heads on mine no allan key,,,got some good wire gonna heat it later too to make it more pliable..anyways when i get my big magnifying glass i will start again...but at this age my eyes aren't what they used to be..till then i might have some 24 mg. french vanilla and chill out to a few more tutorials on the web..man these parts are tiny ...i am going to do the drill method it looks real easy here is a link

if u got a hot spot between the post and the mesh, then its simple, its because it touch nothing but the air in that area, and so it burns red.

the mesh got to touch almost the post at the top.

i guess its because u dont tight well enough the wire on the post when u screw the post. mine almost touch it and if not then i turn the screw so that the mesh comes really near the post.

lol why not, but im not sure its that good with that much space between the mesh and the post.

but then if u got the same problem as md, u could just tight the wire a bit more so that the top mesh stay as close as possible to the post.

well Chkn and Coolmd...wish me luck i'm going to attempt it today..got nothing to do family is all busy and i'm glad...finally got some free time on my hands..i have to go get a chefs torch and a long drill bit..then i should be able to fire it up soon...if i get a hot spot by the post and mesh Chk..i will tighten the positive nut to bring it closer..but yeah i have lots of wire and mesh so it should be trial and error..but thats how i live life anyways...lol..i will report back soon,and give a thumbs up or down...i hope i am like the guy in the vid perfect every time...then i will make about fifteen of them...here goes nothing
