so i havent been around alot lately mostly because of work but also because my motherboard went tits up a couple months ago.... so i bout a new motherboard that would work with my existing athlon x4 640 propus 3.0 ghz... so i went with the asus crosshair IV formula.... used one of my old small hds to format for the new board.... put my old hd in as a backup and so i didnt have to move all my shit... so for about three months everything was normal.... untill yesterday( i bought a new asus hd7850 and installed it two days ago... ) my computer all the sudden booted from my old hd.... WTF??? its really works out for me so its not really a problem... i just want to know why???? the worst of this was i had to reinstall drivers just to get online.....

LMAO....Well u should know how that is ...If that was ur goal from the door it wouldnt have worked....So its a fuck me kinda thing who knows....On a flip side back ur shit up on the other drive nd make it bootable too....I did the same shit with this one here but it wouldnt boot from the old drive (I tried)so its just a backup/storage drive

you know Lady's went tits up about 5-6 months ago.  sorry it crapped out on yo but I am glad you got a few years outta it.  I know it was put to great use.  let me know how the new board works out i have had my eyes on the crosshair v formula.

Hmm.  Don't know why it happened, or how your drives are physically cabled up and configured, but I'd have to say one (or both) of two things is going on.  First might be a BIOS reset, which would likely reset your HD device boot order.  The other would be a drive letter reassignment in Windows (click Start Orb, right-click Computer, click Manage, then under Storage, click on Disk Management and finally right click on any partition and click "Change Drive Letter and Paths.")

 

Since you added hardware, I'd first check the BIOS.  Adding a new graphics card typically doesn't trigger a BIOS reset, but who knows?

Not sure why it would have changed on its own, but lucky stuff happens. but just for future, windows 7 is much more forgiving and acceptable of hardware changes than any other windows has ever been. less likely to have to reinstall the os. backups always good, just in case though.

no just the ultimate... but the old was gamer... its running ultimate on my old hd that had the gamer... wierd huh? i guess the both ultimate though..
