If you are doing other things besides gaming e.g. photo / video editing then Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge are better options. All of the chips you just mentioned come with IG, so Haswell is no different in that regard. If you want to overclock the shit out of it, I would go with Sandy Bridge as Ivy Bridge gets way too hot unless you de-lid it. (I have experience) If not go for Ivy because it's pretty much the same price and will have 5% performance gain (roughly) over Sandy. To be honest, there is very little performance difference between Sandy, Ivy and Haswell as Intel doesn't really have any competition in the enthusiast market at the moment. Therefore, there is no real incentive / pressure for them to hit massive performance increases between generations right now. JohnnyQuest 1

The 4770k's are getting extreme hot and people are taking of the IHS from the CPU, to redo the coolerpaste. Other side of it, AMD just released information about their new CPU's and the TDP of that goes way over 200Watts. I am happy that I could buy a nice Intel CPU second handed and was in the range of good batches(week). I was a fan of AMD for a long time, till people beat me in loading times with the Core2duo series. Check this out: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html Awards

If you are a pc game maniac, I trust that you build your own rig with high-end gpu to handle all games. Who cares about cpu with IG. IG cpu can't match against those high-end discrete gpu. With Intel when you change to new cpu, you usually have to buy a new mobo because of socket design. If you have a fairly good mobo, all you need is an upgrade gpu. Awards
