Economy Sucks but I may have hope

With the present world economy in the shitter I started thinking "Is there any jobs out there that I feel that I can grow in instead of working for these rink E dink employeers."  I have searched the internet looked at local job offers and there is not much of nothing out there, but I may have found my calling.  Now there is no guarentee that I will be accepted, but you know I will try my ass off.  The job I stumbled accross is the Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Internship program.  The nice thing is there will be no money comming out of my pocket during the training period, but they must accept me for the program.  What advice can you Idiots give me on this?  How should I approach this?

 

The supposive pay scale is:

1 - 3	CCIE Intern	$30,000 Per Year
4 - 9	CCIE Professional	$36,000 Per Year
10 - 12	CCIE Engineer	$60,000 Per Year
After Internship	CCIE Consultant	$72,000 - $120,000+ Per Year

no rick is correct on his numbers if not a little low. They are a tough set of exams Rick and if you can pown that and pass the practical test, your considered "the man". Go for it bro, the power of routing is everthing can be done remote.

I don't know if you have done any of the CC's but I'm MCSE and CCNA qualified.  I personally found the CCNA more difficult than doing all my MCP's combined, and it is just the base level.  You can't even go for CCIE until you have this, and several other levels of qualifications.  Bare in mind this is the mother of all qualifications, and is probably harder than taking the bar and 6 master degrees at once.  As the link shows, there are less than 15,000 people worldwide with this qualification.  One of my associates has this qualification, and is on over £200,000.  He told me that you really need a minimum of 10-15 years Cisco practical experience before attempting this.  It also states that less than 3% of those people with Cisco qualifications go on to be CCIE.  In Europe I believe there are only 2 places you can take these exams, the nearest for me in the UK is Holland.

 

All I can say is that this about the equivilent of taking 6 complete MCSEs, and if you haven't any experience in Cisco VLANs, backloop bridging to name a few, then I would highly recommend to start with CCNA and work up.

i would be real carful about working for cisco. my brother worked for them in Austin Tx for a few years. one day when he went to work the door was locked and had a note that they have moved the center to india and all employes need to call a hotline. 650 shitcaned...no notice...just a note on the door. He made good money they just treat there help like shit.
