My Galaxy S4 started heating up last couple days, up by the camera lense.  Yesterday was particularly bad while I was at work and it went dead twice.  I had a hunch so I unmounted the SD card and yay phone cooled down instantly.  I go home, take SD card out of phone. Stick it in my card reader on my PC and like a dumbass always in a hurry...marked all the files to copy to desk top at the same time.  Well needless to say that was the last dying quiver out of that card.  I got about a third of them copied then errors started popping up.  I was able to move those files on to another SSD card and put back in phone..but now the old SSD card does nothing.  Card reader light up but pc doesn't see it.  Also tried inserting it into phone,,same thing.  My question is..Is there a way to get back into this card to get pictures that I had taken recently that I had not backed up?  There were a few of my dad that I really am kicking myself in the ass for not backing up earlier.  Anybody?

@spinpuppy  You can try Recuva - it has worked for me in the past and is freeware.
There are other programs out there too including some used by forensic analysts

but they are likely to be expensive for the full versions.  Some offer limited time/

function trials though.

Download Recuva here: https://www.piriform.com/docs/recuva

PS: You could also try ZAR  http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/storage/3481659/how-get-files-off-corrupt-sd-card/

[Edit: to add details of second program]
