Our discussion yesterday @Daddyo made me want to go hiking. So I had everything prepared for today. But the weather is shite... So instead I'll just post photos from a hike last year, in Siggaboda Naturreservat in Southern Sweden. Sweden -especially south- is a flat country, filled with lakes and forests and lakes and forests. Doesn't make for very challenging hikes, but it is beautiful.

You don't have to go to mountains to appreciate a nice walk. Trust me it's hot as hell here, and I'm still going and breaking a nice sweat. It's nice to see you go out there, and get in the wilderness. Check out an Alltrails application for your phone, that's how I've been finding them, of course all the website. I like your idea of branching off and finding your own.

Oh but that was an actual trail, just taking some strange turns haha. I got lost for an hour or so at some point.

Technical question for you all ... when you go on a day hike, what do you bring with you? This question is specifically related to emergency situations.

I've been going to more popular trails so to be honest. The only things in my sling bag are, a water bottle, and a granola bar.

Make sure you have a basic first aid kit as well. A small trauma kit is best. It's not only to treat others, but for yourself as well if you're alone.

All these pretty photos have inspired me, I'm gonna get off my fat arse and go hiking....just had to order some new shoes, none of mine are really practical haha.

Expect to see some pics of the English countryside soon.

Love hearing that! My suggestion is start off light. Something with not an easier incline. If you have a smartphone. You can use the alltrails app or even on your pc. You put your location and it'll give you nearby trails.

Looking forward to seeing some of your neck of the woods. For me this weekend I'll be in Asheville NC area to hike. Couldn't this last weekend as it was my dad's birthday.

Oh god yeah! My friend and I are looking at walking the flatter areas to start off. I'm lucky enough to live slap bang in the middle of two hill ranges so there's no shortage of places for me to go.

Went camping last weekend (bear encounter included at 2am... Luckily it scurried off away from outside of our tent after a few minutes!)

Went on a 5.5 hour hike the next morning! Wish I would have taken more pictures but was trying to keep up a good pace and survive the trail (barely did... Always bring more water than you think you need ?

Photo attached is from one of the openings by the lake!

That sounds lovely. This week, the weather has been great. I'll be hiking Grassy Ridge Bald tomorrow. About a 3.5 hour drive for me.

Hiked all over this place. This is Fox Mountain in Northwestern Nevada. The area below is the Black Rock Desert, where Burning Man is held every year, except for maybe this year!

That's lovely right there. I'm currently on my hike. Waiting for sun to come up. I've been at it since 3 am my time.
