We got on the topic of Fender Telecasters at work, and I brought up a couple examples of favorite licks. Straight to youtube on the phones, and I was disappointed by the sound of The Beatles Abbey Road, everything is from the 2009 remix. That's not how I remember it, wore out a cassette tape of the Apple version in high school. Dug through my CD's, and yep, found a copy from 1994 that mirrored the old Apple pressing. There was George Harrison playing that Rosewood Tele on You Never Give Me Your Money, She Came In Through The Bathroom Window, and Maxwell Silverhammer in all his Beatles glory.  Some things just don't need updating.

I agree. I do not mind other bands doing remakes of other people music so long as it's not a copy. But when the original band gets it right...... why redo it because you have fancy new euipment

Heck yeah TLCB.  No choice, but to concur.  You made me want to listen again, so I searched YouTube typing Abbey wrong at first ("abby road apple pressing") brings up every other vid as literally apple pressing, so now I'm basically dealing with 2 rabbit holes... 🙂

Apparently I like both dem apples....or all dem....as it were.

Had Dr.Robert as a ringtone for years. Too bad our current environment promotes division, we have way too many things in common, that's what made this nation so successful. People are too quick to forget.

Must prior to covid I had a chance to make it to London for work. I admit, that spot gives you chills to this day.

It’s funny you say that, as a kid I would play And Your Bird Can Sing on my guitar over and over trying to master the guitar lick. Oddly enough it’s McCartney on lead and not Harrison.

You have to remember.  All of the Beatles albums have been remixed and re-released throughout the years.  The latest Gyles Martin mixes are some of my favorites.  You will hear different instruments brought forward in the mixes.   Also remember with the Tele...  Jim Page used one almost exclusively on the first two albums.  And a small Fender Champ amp.

More detail on these remixes.  When these bands record, they have many takes of different instruments that do not make the final mix.  Or they are pushed back in the mix to the point you barely hear them.    Due to limitations, not every sound can make the final mix.  Think of making a pie.  You can only put so much ingredients into the pan.  Too much and it becomes an unrecognizable mess.  What they do in these remixes is keep the original base ingredients, but remove some of the extra ones and replace with different ones.   And those new instruments where recorded during the original sessions.   I like it.  Makes for a new listening experience.  I recommend any Beatles fans to listen to the originals and then the new Giles Martin ones.  If your a vinyl fan (and have a descent turntable), those new pressings sound great.  Same with the new Zeppelin pressing Jim Page did.  Nice sounding pressings.

I'm more along the lines of I want a bag of Lays Potato chips. I don't need 15 different flavors, because I'm going to dip them in my favorite sauce anyway. I like Tom Petty, he does a nice rendition of The Byrds Feel a Whole Lot Better. Still Prefer the Byrds version hands down.
