Do any of you "EXPERTS" think Windows 7 64 bit would be a worthwhile upgrade from Vista 32 bit?

Also, how much fun will it be Deleting Vista completely and Doing a Complete reinstall in order to switch from 32 bit to 64 bit, is this gonna be worth my time in order to run more Ram, or will 32 bit Windows 7 be good Enough. I would appreciate any and all advice, and maybe I will just stick with 32 bit to make life easier if 64 bit is a waste..............

ok well i dont know as much as others but heres goes

my friend purchased windows 64 bit xp as he had the computer guts to do it.it turned oiut that some of the games he wanted to play would install but thay just would not run. becouse of this he had to go back to a 32 bit system.

im led to believe that all games at present are made and designed to run on a 32 bit system so having a 64 bit system does not improve the game. im also led to believe that the 64 bit system is mainly used for major graphic design type work projects

I think I have asked this question before. Don't ask what can I run if I get a 64 bit OS ask why do I need a 64 bit OS and so I can run more ram is not an acceptable answer unless your doing some serious graphic work or working with video. Its the same thuing as asking if you should update your bios I would ask does your bios need upgrading most of the time it does nothing for you. I run 32 bit with 4 gig of ram and I never use all the ram never even compliling a huge map. Now ask if you should get stinking fast ram I say yea baby but your cash there.

I am running Vista64 Ult over a year now (maybe even 1,5year) and I would never go back to 32bits again.

It so stable and I am using 4Gb's.

I got a new PC in July and it runs Vista 64 bit which runs ok and i was pleased it was the 64 bit after hearing numerous complaints on here about the 32 bit, but saying that i am getting a free upgrade to windows 7 shortly so i look forward to that too.

The advantage of a 64bit System pays off for graphic apps, media encoding and data bases. Thus operations where you need a lot of RAM.

For all the other apps a 32bit System is strong enough.

I had win xp prof 32 bit before...upgraded to vista 32 bit, a little later vista64 bit and now win 7 64bit ultimate...

imo like Xray said the 64bit are more stable like the 32bit

but I had some trouble to get 64bit drivers for older devices like scanner or printer

there is 2 modes 32 and 64 inside the 64 bit system everything should work.

I would say anything that gave me more ram do it can never have enough ram.

Well thanks alot, instead of Whiping out my hardrive, and starting over basically just for some minor improvement, I think these posts have led me too stick with 32 bit. I can still win a round or two on occasion with 32 bit system with 3 G's

Sorry I still have to say 64bits.

Your CPU is designed for it and thats why it is (also) more stable.

I havent heard people that installed the drivers right, then went back to 32bits.

Addressings are better and the "HAL" system. Your "HAL" sytem must be good or your hardware is acting slower/ incorrect.

One point - Windows 7 is also avaiable as a 32-bit system. It has to be, otherwise 75% of the computers out there would be obsoleted as most people can't afford the hardware required for a 64-bit system.

I have been running 7RC (32 bit) for about a month now and, although I like it, it is not much better than XP. Vista just doesnt cut it for me so, I am torn between leaving everything the way it is, or doling out the $200 to upgrade to 7 - all of this on 32-bit systems because the "trouble and strife" wont let me spend anything ona new MB and processor anyway Cry

Its true that Vista 32bits isnt good after release.

Feels the same as WinME came out.. less stable.

(win98se was better)

when you upgrade from xp to win 7, windows 7 takes your xp and creates a file called xp.bak
