Closing the state over two inches of snow. It is just slushy frozen water. You won't melt, but the snow might.

Hell we keep going with over a foot. I had to come home once when it snowing. We were putting metal siding on a building and we had about 4 inches of snow on our shoulders, so we called it a day. Another time 2 of us put a 24 x 36 building up in one week in a foot of snow and the high for the week was 22 degrees F.

I guess if you are not used to it then that may be a different story. But 2 inches. That shouldn't effect anything.

Blah blah blah...Laughing. Yeah, but I bet your life would end as you know it if you had 102 degrees and 89% humidity for ONE day.

Darth, Vestal is about three hours south of me.  I am in Webster NY right on the shore of Lake Ontario and we get an incredible amout of snow with Laek Effect Snows.  We got four inches today and we have already had over 70 inches this winter and not a single snow day for the kids.  We just drive right on through the stuff.  Does help to have 4-wheel drive!

Its not the snow, its the inexperienced drivers that insist they can go 55 over the icy roads. Maybe Lake Texoma will freeze over some day and we can just skate over and have a beer with ya.

Yea, You are probably right Bama. I can't stand the heat, let alone the humidity. Everyone that I have talked to that visited that region just hates the weather. We only get 90-100 maybe 7-10 days a year. Rarely is it over that. I really hate being that warm, it just kills me. And with my health I wouldn't be able to deal with it. So I guess we just get used to where we live and deal with it. There is no perfect place to live. And to each his own. We probably all bitch about some aspect of where we live. But rarely do we do anything about it.

There is a place in Spain that the lowest ever was 50 and the highest was 80. Now that would be damn nice. I don't know anywhere like that over here. And it only gets 22 inches of rain. We get 42 inches. I can't remember the name of the place. But it was green year around. It rained a little every few days. Sounds like paradise to me. But it was like stepping back in time 100 years. Very primitive.

Cute kids Darth.

It's cold and snowy here too...   -25 this morning and about 8 new inches of powder, it's beautiful.

But I just got off the phone with a good friend who lives in North Dakota and he said the snow has been falling since early

yesterday morning and it's now above the knees.   The temperature is dropping below zero and the north wind is increasing.

His wife has done nothing but look through the kitchen window all day.  He says that if it gets much worse, he may have to let her in.

As far as snow goes, I think the "people" here are piss ant ignorant! I have driven all over the US and Europe in all kinds of weather. Baah humbug!!!  I take my Jeep out and pull people out of the ditches they manage to find!!!!!

I lived there for a while and yes the summer time can be sweltering but as you know the old saying there,"If you don't like the weather, wait fifteen minutes. I have seen it snow 6" there over night and by noon it was gone and 60 degrees out side. Where I grew up in Colorado there is snow 6-7 months out of the yr. So while you guys may shut the state down we just keep on trucking!

We should pick up and move there now. It does sound like paradise, as long as there is interweb access.. lol

I have been on both sides of the coin and it all depends on what you are used to. When I lived in the Finger Lakes region of New York State we had lots of snow and knew how to handle it. Now I live in Florida and if we get it here the idiots don't know what to do but they sure can handle the heat and humidity...Smile

reporting from northwestern Alabama here...9 inches in 9 hours last night...real pretty but folks round here arent prepared for it. I spent 3 long winters in northern maine. It's weird how when you live where it happens all the time and the ground stays white for months its just standard operating procedure. Down here it's freak out central, and i guess rightly so....no plows, a few salt and sand trucks and a lot of worrying when the temp will rise to get rid of it.
