This Plantronics $15 set is a good inexpensive headset and mic. I’ve had mine for a year with no problems.

IF you want to go wireless... think again. I have had both Logitech and Plantronics.. and I am pretty dissatisfied with both. The Logitech wears out too quick, and you can't wear the Plantronics while it's charging. If you game for a bazzilion hours on end like I do, the charge never lasts long enough.

Stick with a good wired set IMHO.

Well, I guess I am a sucker but I have 3 Logitech G 35's. Have had no issues with any of them

Nice surround sound, good voice quality, comfortable, but pricey.

They’re a great set for the dough. I posted this headset/mic set because it seems like quite a few players don’t own headsets and a microphone. I think they’re really vital for good game play.  I believe these are pretty good for the money, plus you can wear them for hours and never hurt your head or ears. Most all can afford these too.

That is the key point. A stereo headset is a significant advantage in game play. As in many things in life, listening is often the key to success.

So do your home work but get a stereo headset that meets your budget.

Or better yet talk your parents or wives into buying one for you. Laughing

You do know that often a person buying a gift for someone will often spend more than you might spend on yourself. Another perk is if bought by a wife or girlfriend they can't complain about your game time............ you are only showing how appreciative you are for the gift. Wink

I've bought 2 eDimensional AudioFX Pro headsets, loved them, but they're pretty poorly constructed as the earcups will eventually tear themselves out of the headset after any significant use.

Currently using a G35, very nice headset, but pricey indeed. I'm also a little disappointed with the mic quality since the thing costs over $100.

I’ve used many different headset/mic setups over the years. Some costing over $100, but always there was something that I would find that I didn’t like about them. The big ones that totally cup your ears sound really good but they would get heavy and hurt after a while. also they block out the outside world, I missed important phone calls and didn't hear the dinner bell too. Then of course I would roll over the wire cord too many times and crush the wires until they broke. I would repair them myself but after cutting away the broken section too many times the cord became too short. When my boys were young and were at the computer they would get the headset cord wrapped around the swivel desk chair. Pop. There goes another one. I even got the 2 year extended warranty for a really good $60 set from Radio Shack. I returned them for a new set 16 times, no bull shit. That paid for the warranty many times over and I never had a problem with the store. So I decided I’m not paying big dollars anymore. These cheapie looking Plantronics are comfortable and sound great.
