I have recently  had a boat load of issues with my games....I'll skip most of that...

So...to get all my information and stuff for everything....I had moved user data around and the like to get all my configs back to where the programs needed to find them....TS info COD levels and kits....all my other programs.....

Long story short I have 39.1 gigs of stuff in 2 places....

c:\documents and settings\

c:\users

I used a duplicate file finder to confirm they are mirror copies and want to get rid of one....and by get rid of just copy it to my terabye external for safe keeping but dont want to guess wrong....so....which one goes?

Thanks

DJ

back up both to a folder marked whatever and then take one and drop it in c:\users/deerjohn_imgone . If all goes well toss teh one you did not use. If it failed use the other one and toss the one that did not work.

Hey deerejon, looking at the folder structure for windows 7, i believe you need to keep the 'c:\users' folder and get rid of the 'c:\documents and settings' folder.  before deleting the latter, just rename it slightly just in case.

hope it works out for you.

Well it depends on where and if you moved your profile. Start with the c: users thats where your profile should be. Here`s a link to help you see if its there still.

Well.... I can't get a standard Ethernet Connection with my Comcast cable.  Every time I try to connect I get the Dreaded "Error 651" message. I get this message even when I try a USB Cable instead of the Ethernet Cable.  I can access the net by a "Network Connection" which is designed to connect other PC's within my own home network. But because this is not a "Broadband or Ethernet" connection, my COD2 or COD4 games Will Not use this connection for online playing. There is no way to make it my default connection to tell my PC to use this for all applications.

I have spent many an hour with Comcast & Dell on the phone with trying to fix this issue. After research online, it seems I am not alone with this problem.

Thanks

The RAS PPPoE driver file “raspppoe.sys” found under c:windowssystem32drivers folder seems to be the root cause of the problem. Fortunately, we can workaround the problem simply by renaming the original raspppoe.sys file to something like “raspppoe_orig.sys” copying a working file from a Windows Vista system.

I found this.....It sounds and looks right.....it is a windows 7 error and the vista file is more stable....

Try this then...instead of renaming, copy it to a flash drive or anywhere you can get back to it....you should then be able to rename it...or just leave it there for now....overwrite the file in the windows\system32\drivers folder with a vista one and see how that works....you can then put the original back...is you have to...which i dont think you will....let me know....

And if you need a faster reply or wanna get on ts to work it out my email is [email protected]

That goes to my phone as well as my PC so I will get back to you faster....

I actually had no luck with it. I am presently running as Admin and it did not help. I have a good friend in the PC Business & He says its my Windows 7 not giving access to COD2 to get to the net. One of the issues is the fact that COD2 is a 32 Bit Program &  Win. 7 64 Bit systems have problems running older 32 bit programs.

Thanks again for your help
