Heya peeps,

I'm looking for some help with a new computer build for my dads work computer.. the help i require is in computer parts as im looking to do this build at little cost as tbh i have no cash, so im looking for a new mobo/cpu/ram that is so old and crap that your willing to give it away for free (obviously has to be better than the existing) (il pay shipping costs if its not too much).

The existing computer is as follows:

cpuz1.jpg

cpuz2.jpg

cpuz3.jpg

cpuz4.jpg

So if anyone reading this could spare some old parts that are better than the above (its not hard to beat tbh) then could you either post here, pm me or hit me up on xfire for a chat.

Thanks, Sitting-duc xD

oh forgot to say what the computer is used for:

> Running design software for creating drawings/plans.

> Browsing the internet.

> Accounts..

> Thats about it..

The computer itself doesnt actually have to be that good as none of the programs run on it are that much of a resource hog.. just its got to the point now where it takes 10 mins to load the PC.. 5 to load a program and when you click it lags.

I got an Asus P5VD2-VM mobo laying around doing nothing , it takes Intel core 2 cpu's .

Yours if you can get a cpu to go with it.

Would imagine postage to be between 5 to 10 quid.

Paul.

Edit to add - This is the little one http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_775/P5VD2VM/

Also looking at the pics your posted it looks like it only has 512mb of ram , have you considered just putting in some extra ram?

A friend of mines laptop was running dirt slow , I took a look at it for him. It took like 5 mins to get windows vista up then proberly 30 seconds everytime you wanted to open something.

I checked in the task manager and it was using like 95% of its ram just on tickover. As soon as you tried to open anything it would max out at 100% and then take forever to do anything.

I suggested doubling the ram , he gave me the go ahead so I ordered some more , whacked it in and jeez what a difference.

From pressing the on button it was surfing the net within 1 min! And programs opened within 1 to 2 seconds.

You get what I am sayin.

Just another option for you which might be easier.

Obviously a fresh install would speed things up some more also.

Paul.

Please let me know what you come up with. I have @ 15 socket 478 cpu's and a bunch of ddr memory sticks. I would need a compatible memory list and CPU list so I can look to see if I have anything to match.
