No "big" trip this time,i just took my car and drove to two nice areas in France.First the "Loire castles" area then "Normandy".Those intersted in WW2 could be interested in this part as i visited the D-Day beaches and a very special place : The Us cimetery of Colleville.About 9300 US soldiers are burried here . Most of them killed on the 6th of june 1944,the others later in june in the "battle of Normandy". A very impressive and emotional place.I took a few pics of this old US veteran from 82nd Airborne Division. They made a little ceremony for him and at the end some people from every nationalities came to tell him 'thank you for what you did'...then an entire class of French kids came to tell him 'Thank tou sir" whith a terrible French accent...guess what happened...this hero just started to cry...Shit that was a realy emotional moment...i just had time to take two pics and had to dry my eyes too ...Enjoy the pics

Ps: The land of this US cemetary area was given to the USA by General Charles de Gaulle and this is the only part of French territory which is under a 'foreidn' ( US ) administration..Yell...shit i nearly had to show my passeport to get in...Wink

Ps:I'm afraid the next slideshow i will post will be less pretty...it will be right after the XI fest and full of idiots ugly faces Yell

A fine selection of photographs, well presented, as always, Olive!  Thank you for sharing those views of your visits.

The fields of white crosses are always very moving.  After encountering those in Flanders, I formed the opinion that, on entering office, all politicians should have to make a visit to see close-up the potential effect of their decisions.  I don't believe many would be so keen to wage war afterwards.  Seeing them always reminds me of the young men who were denied the life and experiences I have enjoyed through their sacrifices.

That's exactly my opinion too DEEJAY .
