Cod2 Hackers

There was another hacker on the TDM server this morning and I took some video of him. I wanted to get an admin in so he could be kicked but no one was available. It was an obvious wall hack, so I asked him to please leave the server but he either didn't understand English or didn't care. His name was Passarinho Brasil. I can send the video to whoever wants to see it.

 

It sucks when there are no admins available because a hacker can just stay and do what he wants and ruin the fun for everyone else. Luckily it was just me and Window in the server so I just followed the guy around and shot at him so Window could find and kill him (LOL). He finally got the hint and left.

 

OK, since my suggestion of running PB on the COD2 servers didn't go over too well, I have another possible idea. I think servers can be set up so that the people in the game can vote to kick players. Since I always hear that members are expected to help police the servers, maybe it could be set up so that members could vote to temporarily kick non members when they are suspected of cheating. To prevent abuse, maybe require a min number of kick votes from the members before the player gets booted. Any thoughts?

Wow, if that's possible it would be a great idea. The admins do a great job but there isn't always one available when we need one and this would help a lot.

Thanks for the update Bullet. Usually there are several admins on at one time. Unfortunately in the incidence there wasnt. In the future, please get as much info on the player including video.

 

Without the members help, catching these individuals would be alot more difficult. Thanks again for bring this up.

Bullet I think it is a great idea. There are times that there is not an ADM in the game or available on Xfire. I too this morning tried to conntact one during this event and could not. It was not any fun playing when he was in and I would have just left, but only stayed in to get video of him.

Oh Window, u r such a suck ass. Do you owe Bullet money? And yes Bullet, we DO have lives outside of COD. Bummer on a rainy day when there is time to play and a hack ruins the game. I'd rather not implement voting. Too many kids start requesting votes for everything. My 2 cents.......

OK, maybe only certain members can be given the privledge of voting?? Again, only talking about potentially kicking, not banning, non members only. Bans could come after review by admins.

Only Admins for their game can kick players. I can't kick in COD5, for example. I played this guy the other night, too, but didn't suspect anything - didn't seem to dominate or anything. I was also in for a few rounds this morning, but he wasn't in at the time. Like Pete said, please get video and we'll watch it and/or watch for him in the future. It's the only way to ban them if they are hacking. BTW, I like the strategy you and Window used!!

Lt. I have video and I think Window does too, what is the best way to get it reviewed? When I take video, the files tend to get very large. I can Xfire them to an admin. Or is there a better way? Is there a common place on the website where this stuff can be uploaded?

Is it Xfire video? If so, you can message us to look at it at your Xfire account/page. If not, might need at Photobucket, or something like that.

Its an Xfire vid. Watching it i realized the sound was not recorded (dammit), but still is obvious cheating. Window would spawn and hide and wait and he would toss nades without ever seeing him. i will send u one of them.

No prob Bullet, I understand and your suggestion is a valid one. Im not in favor of this since we shouldnt openly have all members capable of banning players. In many cases, admins do discuss certain situation and make inquiries. As I mentioned before, your work and help is invaluable and your idea (to a certain degree) is implimented when members complain about certain players.

 

This is not a fool-safe system, and unfortunately, there are holes. Im certainly open to thoughts and suggestions on how to make this work better.

I'll lobby for this method again:

To record video of a suspected hacker, open the game console with the tilde key and type: /record "playername"

 

This will record a very compact demo file with video and audio fully intact. You can find the file in your Call of Duty 2 folder somewhere, like "Call of Duty 2\players\profile-name\demos" or something. Not sure, haven't had the game installed in ages ^^

/record/playername? I'll give that a try in console. I deleted nero a while back and lost a codec I need to convert .avi files. Usually I would just hit scroll lock V and record in xfire. Now I can't convert and upload. Doesn't take many unconverted videos to roll up a gig or two on my hard drive.

not a good idea.... i seen that before in quake 3 and it got abused. People kicked because they did not like the person winning all the time. Leave it up to videos and admins. They can handle it even if not around at the time or all the time.

 

Taking the video is what they need. Then they can handle.

 

 

 

Maybe we should get their cell numbers so we can call them. lol
