Hi guys,

Getting ready to start my build, just waiting on the case and fans to arrive everything else is here!

Asusu P8Z77-V Deluxe

Intell i7 3770k

8 GB Vengance DDR3

Antec P280 case

Win 7 Pro

CM 212 Evo Cooler

1TB Caviar Black HD

4 pack Cougar Turbine Fans

Don't give me grief on the board, I went a little extra for it because I wanted the WI-Fi go connectability, this will be the our new entertainment hub for the house.

Still debating a small SSD drive 82 bucks for a 120 gb drive.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147188&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL042313&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL042313-_-EMC-042313-Index-_-SSD-_-20147188-L0D

Video card...can I get away with running my old one for a bit? a GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512 or is that just stupid?

Looking at this? GeForce GTX 660

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130826

It's only money right...any other recomendations on a card? Running up a decent tab on this build so far...cannot afford a $500 card...lol

The case just arrived...DAMAGED! Oh well...already spoke to NewEgg going to return it for refund, and go buy the same case locally.

Hey Kapt., using an NEC multiSync EX231w, the rig will be a multimedia setup. We listen to a ton of music, and a fair share of movies. Which we will be able to access throughout the house and yard via wi-fi and blue tooth via our cell phones and/or tablet/ipod. If it all works like it is supposed to, I could access a movie that is on my harddrive with my cell phone as the remote, and send it to my t.v. via wi-fi. The mother board has two external Wi-Fi antennas, dual band that are seperate from my wireless router network. Sounds good in theory, I really do hope it all works.

Any thoughts on that GeForce GTX 660 card?

Oh, and did I mention I game? Hopefully speed up my kniving kill on CobraBites!

i didnt think windows 64 could handle more than 8 gb ram memory? The rest is unusefull - no?

In regard to COD 4 you dont need much of graphic card so the 660 is top notch.

Thanks guys,

The SSD 128 gb drive is on it's way, Still need to pull the trigger on a Vid card...That 660 is in my budget, has 2 gb DDR5 and is PCI-3.0...all of which I am looking for

Thanks DaMike, oh and I was reading that too, about the ram. In bench Mark test they said not a big jump from 8-16 for gaming. Although I do edit NFT and RAW file images using Adobe Lightroom which laggs like Bob Barker on the MW2 Server on my current soon-to-be-replaced rig. But that is a cheap and easy upgrade in the future if I need to.

Thanks for the advice on the SSD and card all.

Holy Crap Kapt!

That thing looks as big as an apartment block!I already have a full sized ATX tower, think I'd need a server tower for that beast! Luckily I can't find one for sale, and if I could I bet it would be outta my budget, but good looking out. I think the 212 Evo will keep me cool just fine, could always replace the fans in a push-pull config if I feel the need.

The monitor is for my office, where the pc is located...Also where I game. The t.v., and home theater system is in the living room (soon to be a Samsung 46 or 55?) If I where to change out my monitor I would go with that new 29 inch ultra wide screen.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824005396

But seeing as I think my piggy bank is pretty much done on this project, I will hold off for a bit! Oh and I run and external USB sound card with gain control and RCA outs for my KRK monitors, and sub. This is not a dedicated Home Theater rig, but will be used for media to the home theater ;-)

Thanks...

Got it done yet? :) I'd like to see it all together! Hope you had fun with it and everything was operational on first install. DOA parts can be SUCH a pain in the ass (especially if you're of the impatient nature, like myself)!!

Holy Shit, DaGame Changer stopped by my thread!!! I feel honered...lol Hey Billy...and Nice keyboard Kapt. Can't give up my 10 key pad though....

Sooooooo....life got in the way of the build...happens all too often, but just finished a job today and unless anybody wants to come by and PISS IN MY WHEATIES!!! The build is on!

Plan on pulling the power supply and disk drives outta my current rig, and get everything loaded up tomorrow. Clean install of a new OS will be awesome. I will still have a laptop here to get drivers and advice if/when I run into any problems.

I am assuming I should load on the SSD the OS, COD, and my PhotoShop Lightroom program, anything and everything else would go onto the 1T HHD.

...and Billy, ther is NO Natty Light in my fridge!!! Biznatch...kill ya later...

Oh man this rig is nice, but for the life of me...as soon as I loaded COD...booted up multi player to come in take a quick peak see how she handled...never made it past the splash screen for the game before I got... IW3MP.EXE ERROR!!!!

I mean, WTF...I can't even get around this damn error with a brand spanking new computer, newonboard sound card new mother board...everything...and no, I did not install my USB sound card yet, just running the onboard realtek sound card, that is not even hooked up!

Fresh copy of COD4 on a new harddrive too...I already read up a bit on changing the file out, but shouldn't it be good straight off the original keyed COD4 disk?

anywho...that's a bummer...but the rig is really very nice I'll get it figured out

7.8 outta 7.9 on the Windows Experience rating!! and she booted first try  :yahoo:  <----Happy Dance

I need another Beer -

Thanks for all the advice...Beer - Out
