Bought a pontoon boat and have spent most of my days off in it. Ice was been gone from most of the 3000 foot lakes and the fish are hunggerry. I;m loving it. After fishing 4 different lakes and catching a bunch of fish I came home to find my favorite lake (tongue reservoir) is now ice free!! I live next to the Bighorn River here in Montana so I can Trout Fish year round . . in fact looking out the window its a bitchen day I think I will go cast a few flies right now . .CYA! deerejon Posted May 2, 2013 Member ID: 842 Group: *** Clan Members Followers: 62 Topic Count: 278 Topics Per Day: 0.05 Content Count: 3712 Content Per Day: 0.70 Reputation: 3150 Achievement Points: 28451 Solved Content: 0 Days Won: 4 Joined: 12/06/09 Status: Offline Last Seen: Thursday at 07:16 PM Birthday: 05/04/1965 Device: Windows Share Posted May 2, 2013 (edited) Well last saturday afternoon I decided to get the boat ready and go fishing so I spent the whole day going over the boat, charging the batteries, vacuming, fresh gas plugs etc...I put it in the water...turn the key...the engine starts first crank...awesome...reverse out start to go in a circle, switch to forward and turn the turn the wtf??? the wheel wont turn...(why didnt IU think to turn the wheel too??? grrr..) now I am floating around the dock...removed the steering cable...no easy chore...its ok...the freeze up is in the rear...ok...remove the linkage from the motor...NOT EASY TO DO HANGING OVER THE WATER.......turns out the steering cylinder is froze.... so in true McGuyver fashiopn I thied the front of the boat tight and close to the dock tied the rear of the boat loosley to the dock with the rope around the stuck linkage..., put the boat in forward gear and played up the throttle......water coming over the back more throttle more water...then pop...it freed up.... took about 3 1/2 hours to get'r done so it was gettting to dark to fish.... Sunday was screwed so no fishing...but the sun is out right now!!! and I think I can get out of here and try it again...lol...!!! We finished up all the chores on the house last fall and didn't tell the wives that we were done so that we could have a free weekend to fish without them and the kids when we went down to open the house in the spring. It was in the 80's at the beginning of the week and I was looking forward to this weekend... Now it is Thursday night, I am supposed to leave for the lake at noon tomorrow, and it is 36 F, snowing, and expected to be the same for the next 4 days! I'm pissed.
