Just curious if anyone has any idea on what may be wrong with my TV. I bought it in January so not that old. It turns on and off as indicated by a tiny green light but doesnt actually turn on. It is a Toshiba model# 40E220U. I have a manufacturers warranty good until January 2014 but I am hoping to avoid the huge expense of shipping it back to them for repairs. I have to eat the shipping costs.

Hoping one of you fine folk may be have an idea or have come across this yourselves.

It's the bullshit protection. Your TV wants to tell you that there is only BS on TV an decides that you shouldn't watch this. ;)

Our Phillips Ambilight stops showing a picture from time to time, just the backlight is working. I have to turn it of, wait two minutes and turn it back on. Problem solved.

Unplug the power cord for a few and see what happens. If it is a SmartTV you may try to connect via LAN and reset the configuration but I am not sure if this is possible.

Do you have a manual for the TV?  If you need a copy, look here: http://www.manualowl.com/m/Toshiba/40E220U/Manual/326015

There are various suggestions in it such as resetting the TV, checking signal input etc.

Are you using the internal tuner or an external box for satellite/ cable TV?

A Sony TV I bought through a local department store had a very nice program a few years back. When my TV took a shit all I did was call Sony and they sent a new TV via UPS and I just shipped the old one back in the delivery box.

Shipping all paid for by Sony.
