I don't know what has changed but I seldom get this anymore and when I do all I have to do is re-start the game. I could always play without the issue if I disabled the mic. I found a very easy accidental fix - I installed a Steelseries USB soundcard and since then no problem whatsoever. (Not wishing to teach you to suck eggs but this problem is common and a search on Google brought up 41,600 hits on the error - whenever I hit something like this, it is always my first source of potential fixes as someone else is sure to have been there, done that and won through! ).
