Despite being the antithesis of the cars Germany is known for, the new Ford Mustang was the best selling sports car in the land of schnitzel and beer last month by a whisker. The Mustang beat out the Audi TT by 780 units to 708, and it beat Germany's best known performance car, the Porsche 911, 780 to 752.

That makes some sense, right? The Mustang has to be cheaper than those competitors, right? Not really. Both the EcoBoost and V8-powered Mustang have higher starting prices than the equivalent TT. The 2.3-liter, EcoBoost-powered Mustang starts at 38,000 euros (around $43,300 at today's rates), while the front-drive Audi TT starts at 35,950 euros (about $41,000). The V8-powered Mustang GT, meanwhile, starts at 43,000 euros (about $49,000), which is just 2,550 euros more than the Quattro-equipped TT. When 310 horsepower or 435 hp can be had for just a couple thousand more than 220 hp, it's easy to understand the Mustang's success.

I see they brang back the good old 2.3l turbo mustang Nice.310 hp 320 torque.Aluminum block and head with direct injection.Base price $26k fully equipped $38k. Curb weight 3532lbs

My uncle has a 1986 2.3L Iron Block inter-cooled turbo SVO and a 85 SVO parts car.He has a little bigger turbo in it and alot of head work done to it.It's pretty darn quick.Curb weight on the 84-86 T code was 2992lbs

The newer mustangs are Fat Pigs when it comes to curb weight. They really need to go on a diet.Don't know where they gained all that weight since the newer engine blocks are all Aluminum vs the older mustangs Iron block 2.3.

That's one of the funniest thing I have heard in years! BTW - BMW's are the absolute best driving cars on the planet. I also owned a Mustang for many years. I love them too.

Ford is the way to go, baby.  I've said it on another post:  (1) my 1997 F-150 still looks and runs great; and (2) Ford Motor Co. didn't choose to accept the U.S. Government bail-out like the other two of the "Big 3" U.S. auto companies.  I was saddened to see the Ranger go by the wayside, however, since the 1990 Ford Ranger STX was my first truck.  Ayaq

Lol, beautiful cars, all of 'em.  The "'cat's meow (no, Kitty, not you)" is the 1968 Shelby Cobra, with the (of course) white pin stripes.  That's according to the guys on "Fast 'N Loud" on the Discovery Channel, and I could not disagree with those buggers.

Beautiful car, more horsepower and torque that tread the roads in its day (keep in mind, this is "factory," not handmade like the Italian or British buggers).  Gotta love the Mustang.  And, Ford Motor Co., by extension.

Beginning in 990 (coincidentally, the same year my 1990 Ford Ranger STX 4.0 litre--I spell it that way for my Canadian friends--came out, the torque-ist, most horsepower-ist small (production) truck on the road, Ford has tunnel-visioned on quality.  I've talked to many mechanics that would agree.

Imagine a young Ayaq, ripping it up against all the foreign makes, even Chevy (damn cough!) with its 4.3 litre Vortec engine.  Held my own against a Chevy (crap, still coughing!) 5.0 liter (American spelling) V-8.  Spent lots of money on rubber those years.  Sigh, the glory days.  Did I mention that Ford Motor Co. was the only one of the American "Big 3" that didn't accept the U.S. Government buy-out?  Just askin'  Ayaq

Don't research GM products that much, bud, couldn't say one way of the other.  I just swallow the PR stuff about how Ford has better this and that than (cough!) Chevy.  Lol.  I love all domestic vehicles, yes, including (cough, gasp, hurling chunks!!) Dodge.  (Clearing throat)  Ayaq

Damn while you all were driving the 4.9l (I think you called them 5.0) 200hp Ford V8's I was kicking ass with the 150hp 2.5l Turbo Fours of Dodge in the 80's, face it, all the vehicles of the 80's sucked serious ass and the 90's weren't that much better.

Have to ask what do you think of the Tesla's domestic aficionado?

That's what happens when you don't upgrade to the Stiffer Panhard bar in the rear. When you go to take a corner under power it loads up the panhard bar then causes the whole rear end to jump when it unloads Just like a big spring.A stiffer upgraded panhard bar keeps the rear end planted alot better and eliminates the hopping while under power.

Neighbor (and 4th cousin) Robert HAD a beautiful (Gota Have It Green) 2014 Mustang GT/CS with a couple mods.Tremek 6 speed 5.0 coyote,Borla exhaust,15" 6 piston Brembo brake upgrade and a few other goodies.

Here is what the car looked like before he fucked it up.

Well he thought he would try to impress his brother on the 4th of July by doing a big nasty burn out in front of his house. He got sideways, went to correct and the rear hopped and threw the rear of the car around. He took out 3 cars parked along the side of the road and jumped a curb and came to rest 2 feet from someones front door.

2 Cars and the mustang were totaled.1 car had 4k worth of rear end damage.1 mailbox destroyed and it busted a big hunk of the curb out.He was only going about 30mph when he lost it but the throttle stuck wide open as soon as he hit the 1st car.He hit hard enough on the front to where the drivers door was pushed back and would not open.

BTW has anyone else noticed they don't track very well?Might be because the front end wheel base is 4 inches wider that the rear.Wouldn't that cause it to Underdrive quite a bit and make it squirrely?I know if the rear is to wide it will overdrive the front tires and cause it to spin around quicker but what about underdriving?
