Liked your post, don't like the temperature you're dealing with. Hate to check tire pressure at that temp, afraid of snapping the stem off.

At  -12 F trying to stretch a bungee cord is not happening. lol

-12 F with a 20mph wind is very close to -40F and it is a brutal kind of cold,

If you dress right you can withstand some pretty cold temperatures even though you'll look like the Sta-Puff Marshmallow man.

I still haven't found a set of gloves that will keep my hands warm when it's that cold.

I used to use Silk glove liners years ago. Seemed to help for me

http://armyissue.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/1955 Follow this link. These are THEE best mitts for cold temp. you can ever get. I walked 1 1/2 miles to work one winter it was -52C and my hands never once felt cold. Gloves will not keep your hands warm they separate your fingers and they are the first thing that will freeze. I've had my mitts for over 30yrs and they 20yrs old when I got them. They last forever, and you can get them at any surplus store.

Fairbanks, Alaska is supposed to hit -50 degrees Farenheit this weekend--and that's only the ambient temperature without any windchill factored in.

It'll get down to -20° F where I'm at.

I've read before that an Alaskan town--Fort Yukon, which is in "Interior" Alaska--has the distinction of being the only town in the world with the biggest temperature "swing" on record: 100° F in the summer and -60°F in the following winter.

That's a 160° F temperature swing in one year.

Just like in the song "Pursuit of Happiness:" "I'm screaming out f*ck that, I'm screaming out f*ck that, f*ck that, f*ck that . . ."
