Although I've read some articles in this forum, as well as some installation guieds on the web, I still have issues installing COD2 from DVD.

I've read that the steam version shall work on PC and Win10.

If I try to install, it freezes at that point when 'applications are removed' (I don't even know which one). The folder, where COD2 should be installed keeps to be empty.

Any idea what's going wrong with my DVD installation?

You load DVD in drive then abort the auto install and go in the drive manually...Right click on exe installer and set to run as admin and compatibility XP 3 then launch the exe...From there you will need to patch the game to 1.3 version after it is installed

My new PC doesn't even have a disc drive and it runs fine with Windows 10 using my Steam Account. One problem some people have had is the game won't work if it doesn't find a Mic it can detect, seems like a small issue but believe me many people have done everything right and the game won't fire up only to find out they don't have their Mic plugged in or the PC doesn't recognize it etc because it isn't plugged in the right place. Plus you have to tell your PC this has to run on a older version of Windows but you have at least 2 people who will walk you thru this situation free of charge "They accept tips though"

Finally got it.
I copied the installation files from DVD into a subfolder where COD2 was suppost to be installed.

Then I right klicked the setup.exe and chose compability WinXP SP3 AND run as administrator. Installation was very quick completed.

Patching to V1.3, I finally could join one of the XI servers.

Thanks for help everyone. I think, the problem was, that I only cose to run as admin, to choosing both (admin AND compapility).
