starcraft 2 region lock ?

so i just bought starcraft 2 after loving playing the single player campaign (ok yes i admit, I DL it, just for testing purpose)

but when i got home, excited to install it and play with you guyz,

i realized they say its 'EUROPEAN SERVERS ONLY'

WTF ?

 

this means i cant play with my fellow clan members, friends ?

why not ?

 

I really have no interrest to paly striclty on european servers,

is there a way for me to play with you guyz ?

or i need to get a US DVD

 

when i read this, i decided not to open the dvd case in case i can resell the game or something, i dont know.

i still dont have a battle.net account or anything.

Bashiok stepped into the battlenet forums today to just clarify a bit some of the buzz that has been going on lately over the hotly debated Battle.net2.0 features.

Cross-region play, Bashiok lets us now, is something a bit more complicated to have working just fine given the current Battle.net2.0 infrastructure, but they’re working on this already and yes, you should be able to play over different regional servers without actually having to buy multiple copies of the game. This feature should be available shortly after the game’s July 27th release date

i read that they did unlock the game for aussies,

so why arent they doing it for europe too ?

 

but ok i will install it and play on european servers untill they find a solution then.

If its ANYTHING like World Of Warcraft, you will only be able to play where you live, ie in uk on europe servers.

sucks balls tbh, as i have pals in america that play and i cant, same as diablo 2

On  a lighter note is starcraft 2 any good???  i am playing Freelancer atm, very much fun. and i thougfht the best game EVAH made was Frontier: Elite 2 on the Amiga.  Blooooody awesome game.

its a game i could play for years

first because i suck at it, but love it, so i have lot of work to get better

then the original starcraft was for many the best game ever, and it still played a lot.

and the 2 seems to be about the same game with way better graphics, and a few more stuffs.

but i cant be really honnest as its the first game of its kind that im playing.

ok i used to play diablo 2 a bit and medieval, but not online.

then there are so many ways to play this game, it has lots of different mods, custom maps, and lots of people playing it so u'll always find someone to play with, the only problem i see is this lame region lock, that wont let me play with my US friends

imagine if they release black ops region lock too, this is just unacceptable.

but i just love this game

It's like World in Conflict, C&C and Dawn of WAR.

 

Yes, when you sign up at battle.net you have to select the region you want to play. By that you have to get that region version of the game and not sure if it all is going to be unlocked. I can play with the USA guys because I have set my region to NA(north american) and had NA trial keys

well chckn one thing to do is to tell them you moved and they could change your region to the USA but then you wouldnt be able to play with all your europe friends then. so i guess youd kinda have to take your pick

i've set my battlenet account to US,

the problem is that its the key of the damned cd that counts

so im just stuck in european servers.

 

and from what i heard even french canadians are set to play on european servers.

so its not a lag issue or anything;

if they change it i would be happy because i could play with all of you guyz

but yea, i will send blizzard an email to see if they can change my key.

 

bob, i thought one day to move in US or canada, but lets face it,

there is no other country in this world where i could live like i am now, and work like i do other than mine.

it may change anytime soon, because some people elected some son-of-collaborationists-refuting-the-hollocaust-and-all but for now, im in the best country to live as an artist.

and anyway moving to US wont change anything as my key is still a EU key
