When Liberal governments (Canada etc) say "WE THE GOVERNMENT ARE GOING TO GIVE MONEY TO"

You ought to get sick to your stomach. That money they are giving away is coming out of YOUR POCKET.

If anyone reading this ran a dept/deficit the way modern governments do our creditors IE banks would foreclose on us. We would own nothing and be homeless. No middle class person would be allowed to borrow like a modern government. Scary shit!

i really thought a massive correct was going to happen about 2019/2020 but then covid hit and governments just started printing more money.

@Tron I would agree a big correction is overdue. I'm not qualified to know when. What little money I have is all in 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 year GIC's @ 4.6-5.15%. At 65 I refuse to play in the markets anymore. Even taking in to consideration inflation I'm not making a lot but I'm not loosing a lot

Just a little venting.

Yeah @WeednFeed...when you are no longer working and relying on your investments to pay for your daily needs..it used to be totally reasonable to park all your cash in fixed income investments...but I fear we are heading into an inflationary doom loop..which means that even though your investments are safe in the sense that you will get paid your yield...the problem is if you are earning 4-5% on average and inflation is 10-15% annually..your real return is far lower and you are actually losing ground. This is why the usual school of thought was to have a 60/40 portfolio of stocks/bonds, and as you age slowly move some stock money into bonds. Historically when stocks tanked...the flight to safety trade was bonds...so they hedged each other. Now, with governments around the world so over leveraged..people are waking up to the fact that they don't want to be paid back in monopoly money. I would suggest you take a look at putting at least 10% of your portfolio into hard assets that cannot be debased. For me this is bitcoin. I already have enough physical gold and silver..so all of my excess savings has been going into bitcoin since late 2016. I suggest this, as there is going to be a series of events that will lead to a rolling currency crises in every country...and the CAD is gonna get destroyed vs the USD as that plays out. I predict we will see a CAD/USD trade to at least $2/$1 before it all unravels. You only need a 10% gold / bitcoin position in the event of a currency collapse, as it's price in your currency will likely 10X, protecting you from being completely  wiped out on your fixed income investments if rates skyrocket. Highly recommend if you have an investment advisor, you talk to them about your options in this regard. NFA/DYOR 😂

Hey @WeednFeedread this article I linked below. The author lays out in a clear and concise manner the reasons why I suggested you add some hard assets to your portfolio. I am currently positioned for such an outcome as I believe it has the highest probability of occurring.

During the dot com bubble, the ratio of the Nasdaq 100 / Russell 2000 hit 8.1. Today tech stocks are trading at a ratio of 8.2 to the Russell 2000. History doesn't always repeat...but it quite often rhymes..and reversion to the mean is hard to bet against IMO.

Meanwhile, the US Government continues down the road to ruin...buying votes by spending more than it can afford on projects that aren't worth doing anyway...with a budget deficit of $1.7 trillion in 2023....and $1 trillion of that just since football season started!

Happy New Year!

Your window of opportunity to obtain cheap Bitcoin sats is closing rapidly. This is an interesting thread about how technologies typically get adopted.
