/reconnect DOES HELP SOMETIMES, NOT 100%, Sorry bout the caps. I left the game run for a while today and I think most maps are installed now. Thanks for all the suggestions.

So now that everything is working again, every map change requires a new download of map files. That's not the bad part, its downloading at 5KB, so maps are taking 2hrs to download. How do I work around this issue?

I did change my sound settings and that wasn't it. I turned off the Windows Defender that suddenly was enabled from the last Windows update. Not it. So I went into the Activision folder, found the IW3MP exe and that's the one that's crashing. However, in there was a shortcut ICON to a "Play COD4 1.7 MW" file, and that launched and worked. I played with that version tonight after updating a few controls that weren't the same and aside from a few minor differences in sound files it plays very much like the crashing version. Should I run the updater again to get me back to the version I was on working again? I don't recall what version that was either?

OK, nothing has changed since I shut it down before leaving on Vacay. WIN 10 OS. The crash dump file I believe mentioned an IW3 file error. The game begins to load, splash screen pops up, then changes to the profile selection screen for an instant and then it closes down and the crash dump file send to Microsoft popup fires up. Can that be exported? Can I fix an IW3 file?

Just got back from Vacay, tried starting COD4 to play tonight. CRASH. Going to need help in the morning to sort it out. Anyone willing to work with me would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to reload.

Had a hardware failure that caused me to repair/reload entire system. Now I have three issues I can't seem to work out: 1. Everytime the Sbase map comes around in rotation the system locks up while trying to load it and I get a MP_Sbase_Load is corrupt or unreadable failure. Most times I can quit the application but sometimes I need to do a dirty reboot. 2. Everytime I launch COD4 I get a pop up that says it didn't shut down properly and do I want to open in safe mode? 3. Every now and then, about 30 seconds after a new session, just after I begin playing, the screen goes blank, usually the color of whatever was most prominent on the display at the time it locks up. I.E. if it were a grassy field, the screen goes blank green. This always requires a dirty shutdown. Anyone have any ideas where to look for what?

I wouldn't say there anything wrong with you or the 9mm. Anything is better than nothing, specially if you keep it with you. But understand one of the most recent high profile shootings that illustrates what 7 rounds of 9mm does in the hands of a trained shooter at point blank range, and the perp survives. Back in the day when the wheel gun was popular, one round from a 357mag ended nearly every encounter, statistically the best one shot stop. The shottie is closer to the wheel gun then the hi cap autoloader. Ammo is a choice you make depending on YOUR circumstances. I live in a home made of concrete with hurricane glass and solid hurricane doors. My shottie is loaded with 3" 000 Magnum rounds. That's roughly equivalent to 15 38cal pellets in one round.
