I'm probably going to get a new phone in like 3 months but I was curious to see what people's thoughts were on these two phones and which they would prefer. The iPhone 6 plus and the LG G3 are close in size and performance. I am probably leaning towards the G3 because I get bored fast and already had an iphone 4 and my current phone the Nokia Lumia 928(Windows Phone). I figured I would give android a shot so post any negatives below about android below. Things i don't like about Apple is using iTunes and the fact I cant remove the battery on an iPhone. The new iPhone doesn't come with a SD card slot as well. The display on the G3 has the most pixels of any phone on the market with its big 5.5 inch screen. So anyways what are your thoughts on these two phones and feel free to throw other phone/brands into the mix (Galaxy S5, HTC One M8, etc).

I just got an LG G3, I love it. I picked up a 64GB MicroSD card and now I have 96GB of storage. Not too bad. The phone was also on sale at Best Buy for $100. So in total I spent $130 under a 2 year contract for a fantastic device. The camera is amazing and the interface seems pretty solid and smooth. The battery is replaceable, another feature I feel is great if you want to use the device after you are done with it as a primary phone.

Overall I am very happy with it. I am glad I went with this device over another iPhone. I should add I have been all iPhones in my house for 5 years. this was just way too nice of a device to pass up for the cost.

If you are not able to get something now / in the next month it might be worth waiting to see what the next Nexus device is like. That is the only other Android device I would ever consider. Most other devices suffer from multiple flaws (ie Samsung's touchwiz is shit).

Hope that helps! I am sure no matter what you get you will love it, these next few months should produce some great devices on the market.

I'm little intresses in iPhone 6 plus.

But until my current phone, Sony Xperia Z2 (no not the tablet) is paied off, hens I'm locked for 24 months. After that I'll see if next is going to be iPhone. Depends on what my friends have. As it's easier to use same apps.

What I really like to have is Samsungs YOUM phones. the one you pull out or unfold into a tablet. If they ever hit come to the consumers.

Getting/ordering phones on Thursday, one for me, one for my wife. I'm leaning toward the LG, but my family's ecosystem is all iDevices. My elderly mom all but refuses to use the telephone, preferring video calls via FaceTime, and my wife has iPhone iPad and iMac. I have a couple of Android tablets (Nexus  7 v1 and a 32Gb 10" HP TouchPad hacked to run Android 4.4.4. ("KitKat"), and I like the openness of the Android universe, plus the ability to add more storage. Gonna think hard on this. iPhone makes most sense, but LG most desirable.

I also hate iTunes.

I should have an iPhone 6+ arriving at my door on Friday.  I will say the new iOS 8 is stellar on my 'old' iPhone 5s and iPad Air in release form as of today.

It's an ecosystem thing for most folks, if you like what you have then stick with it, if you don't you can try an/other side.

Anecdotally, a buddy of mine got an LG G3 a couple of months ago.  Nice phablet, big and beautiful screen, all because he 'couldn't wait' and as of a few weeks ago is regretting it, but he was an Apple guy to start out with.

I've been an Apple guy for over 30 years so I'm not likely to change now, and given the experiences I go through on the enterprise side with BB, Windows and Android there is no compelling reason for me to even consider it.

There is something to be said for trying them all, if you want to do that then have fun.

Having said that, from an ecosystem standpoint on both the personal and enterprise side there's nothing that holds a candle to what the folks in Cupertino are doing presently.  Maybe one day that will change.

Iphone only makes sense if you like departing with the cash. There are options on the Android. Skype is as good if not better than FacePlant, But I understand the the need for facetime since its what Mom will use.

I have the Nexus 5. Awesome phone. As for an ecosystem...I prefer to live and do what I want on my land so a closed system like Apple is no good for me. Not to mention that it still pisses me off that Apple took FOSS tweaked it and called it IOS and then charged for it. I agree that Apple has a simplistic interface that works, but since they really haven't changed it...the only comparison I can come up with is and old tv with knobs and a fancy new tv with a remote... Both get the job done but one just doesn't compare to the other.

Nope,

I respect and hope that everyone can maintain their ecosystem and I continue to love selling google, windows and rim products to our clients too.  Especially when they want services, lmfao.   I know based on my IT experience from over the last 30 years that I've made a good choice on my personal ecosystem, at least for now.

How you view "climate change" (which is the modern reference to global warming since we are getting colder and warmer in different areas, mostly the former) is another thing entirely, especially since the dire predictions of the alarmists haven't come true in any discernible way so far.

Im happy enough with my iPhone 5c in the otterbox. and now running iOS8, no issues yet on the new iOS update :D

I got tired of my Android phones, heres the list of headaches I had

  • Random freezing
  • Random crashing
  • Over heating battery
  • Slow processing power
  • low sound quality
  • Screen blew up on my LG Ally
  • Pins in the charging port are difficult not to bend,
  • Frequent charging
  • Finally, frequent buying of chargers due to the cheap tips that came from the manufacturer

Ive had a LG Ally and a Droid 2 global. I wasnt the only one thats having issues either, my mother went through 7 Droids before she upgraded to the Razor Max. Her Razor Max, she went through 2 of them due to the charging pins on the phone bent. her phone over heats, crashes, reboots, gets stuck on updates till the phone dies and other issues.

check out the galaxy Note Edge that is coming out next month. that's the phone I am getting. I have tried windows phones. I have tried iphones and I tend to stick with androids. it is a lot more user friendly in my opinion. but it also depends on the brand of anroid you get. different companies have different specs. so it really just depends on what you do/don't like.

What in the world kind of phone did you buy @@DemonElf I have naver had any of those issues with any android phone ive ever had. Also it sounds like you may have used an older android. Plus LG is not a huge company in the phone industry. That's why I am hesitant to get the G3.

I have been very pleased with my Samsung s4 mini.   (I would recommend getting the full sized s4 though because it's not verizon branded)
