Not too often an event can bring peoples of all countries together.

For so long a crisis followed by the world.

And then a celebration shared by the world.

Apparently miracles can happen.

It was a late bedtime here as I watched the last of the miners rescued.  I concur with Shamu - Chile managed to do what the UN has tried to do and failed repeatedly.  All nationalities everywhere wished and prayed for this outcome and God was merciful and generous.  True joy here, Chile!  And, as for the scenes on the street, now we have an idea what it would look like if Chile ever won the World Cup!  The Chilean people should be proud of their miners and those who enabled their rescue.  They deserve to party on for some time yet!

Slow down, now you are going too far  Wink  The U.S. will win before Chile Tongue out

And in the States the next day would be business as usual with no celebration.

I also suppose it's OK for some humor now that they have been rescued.

Chile, your great country made all of us proud. President Pinera set an example of leadership that I wish our own president would follow. While Obama would be raving about the failure of the mining industry and calling for new federal regulations, followed by a moratorium on further mining, President Pinera took charge, accepted help wherever he could get it and focused on the mission: saving lives. Congrats!
