Sooner or later he will fall off of Daddie's coat tails and just be another driver on the circuit. God knows he has been given all the opportunity to excel on the track and he just can't seem to get it done. Who you know has gone a long way for Dale's popularity, sooner or later it has to come down to his driving. As for me I do not think Jimmie Johnson and Chad Knaus are about to roll over for anyone. They are still the team to beat. With the new point system woe be to any driver that get a few DNF's.

I can't put into words the sound of the crowd when JR takes the lead...it honestly drowns out the sound of the cars!!!!! For a lot of his fans, that is good enough, no one should ever expect him or anyone for that matter to be the same as Dale Sr!! The world needs to realize that Dale Jr is different than his father. And maybe he got his foot in the door because of his last name, but if I remember correctly, he won the first Winston Cup (that's what it was called then) race he ever drove in...don't think he was ridding his dad's coattails then, and he isn't now!!!

Aww, that's a nice sweet sentiment on Valentines Day, sweet on Dale Jr. Granted he has lucked out and won on occasion but there are many other young drivers who have done better but do not have coat tails like Dale Sr. to hang on to. Jr still remains the connection, for many fans, to Dale Sr. But who am I to argue with success, he is marketable to the racing public and sponsors. And that is what really counts on the bottom line. Just a shame he can't get it on merit.

Believe me, I know of the crowd support, but I fear the support is not based on skill but who his Daddy was. Dale Sr. was an icon for the sport and fans are hoping JR. can somehow keep them connected to Sr. I do not think there can be any argument that Jr. has the on track skills to justify the support he gets.

Most other drivers are deuche bags and I'd rather pull for the son of the greatest than a skilled driver who is a deuche any day, even if he never wins a race. Having said that I don't care for many of the newer tracks or the new car nearly as much as the older stuff. It seems like about half of the tracks are all the same and the racing on them is sub par. And the car has gotten way to far from a street car (which is what made nascar appealing for me). There used to be a feeling that you could fix up your car and carry it over to the track and have a chance of competing with the big boys (even as far fetched as it was). Now days they may as well be racing rocket ships.
