COD4 Problems

I apparently fixed something to where i can play other games with random re-booting. Now i have a new problem... I can start the game and do whatever i want in the menus, but soon as i click join game to bring up server listings i get a iw3mp.exe error... I re-installed the game and it does the same thing, is there something i'm over looking?? Thanks for any advice...

as I run some DX 11 games, under  W7, like Crysis 3, my computer just refuses to run WaW or CoD normally, without getting the message "You're computer seems to have changed since the last tilme you ran"  , and CoD 4 gets me the same message as yours...  Just launchthe game several times after.... No real solmution for your problem, but  this is not exceptionnal

Here are my PC spec's incase you see something wrong here...

Mobo: ASUS Rampage III Black Edition ROG

CPU:   Intel Core i7-990X 3.4 Ghz

GPU:   (4) EVGA Geforce GTX's 580 FTW Hydro Copper 2 in Quad SLI water cooled.

RAM:   Corsair GT Dominator 24 GB @ 2000 Mhz

 

I've tried running the game 858934578934 times and it will not play, dunno what else to do.

Were you running cod with 4 video cards previously? If not try running it with only 2 cards. Just a shot in the dark.

We are all just guessing, obviously.. but when I had similar problems in the past, it was related to my vid drivers and direct x. I would re-install latest vid driver (which is what I freakin had already) and it would clear up for a bit. I had this problem intermittently for quite some time until several updates to drivers (by Nvidia) must have removed whatever bug was a problem for my system.

I had the same problem when the game first came out. It turned out to be an issue with my sound drivers.

I was getting this error from time to time (like most of us) always said and was told it was a sound error (i still believe it mainly is) but now that Bama mentioned updating video drivers, i did last week and i ain't had the error since

detected a problem with me  , on mw2 v2 server is......no press  press tab key when loading map...or when changing the map( crash game)

I think maybe make sure all patches for the game are installed,sound drivers up to date, video drivers up to date and also make sure your punk buster is up to date.

yes, it ran fine for a long time, just decided to do this now.

I had a problem like this for a bit.  It turned out I had quit the game while my server list had a moded filter being used under game type.  A few mods can do this so u can filter ur svr list to their new game types.  One thing you could try is to start any mods u have been on recently and then try to join.  If this doesnt work, u can remove your server file from the COD4 folder (its servercache.dat i think).  This will cause you to lose your saved svrs, but should fix the problem.

i know one way around it... if you go to mods in the screen and just launch with any random mod it allows you to use join game and i noticed it seems to start working normally after a time

ObedawgJR has had this problem multiple times on his pc.  I've always "fixed" it by deleting his profile, but if it's related to a server file list as Malsuerte suggested I'd start there after updating all drivers.
