Hey guys, Got a quick question. I have problems launching COD 4 and COD 5. I can play Multiplayer  in both of these games for around 15-20mins, then my computer locks up completely. Have to hit the power button. I can play single player for hours without a hitch. Also, i can play Black ops and MW2 for hours at a time without so much as a stutter. Here's what i've tried thus far:

Reinstalling all Drivers- nvidia, sound, chipset, lan, etc.

Reinstalled PB for both games

Reinstalled COD5

Tried running game in safe mode.

Ran virus and anti-spyware scans, as well as updated windows.

Specs are as follows

Core 2 2.66ghZ

4GB DDR21066

BFG Tech GTX260

300GB  HD

Asus P5b Deluxe Mobo.

Acer 19" LCD.

Any suggestions? any help would be greatly appreciated

try getting cpu hardware monitor that will tell you all your temps ..how many fans do you have in your case ..and msi after burner will let you turn up the fan speed on the 260 ..i run 2 of them and have the fans at 85%..play all the games and cards never get over 65c..hope that will help ..

Thanks for the replies guys. I have evga precision to tweak my fan on the 260, it also tells me my vid temps. Never gets above 72.. I have a massive oversized Cooler master fan on my CPU. Plus 2 120mm on top, and an 80 in the back, and an 80mm blowing on the HD cage. I don't think its a heat related issue, mainly because i can play Modern Warfare 2 and Black ops for hours, and those games are more demanding. I ran Intel Burn test on my PC and it passed everything. I'm a PC repair tech by trade, and it has me stumped. I was thinking maybe a PunkBuster issue, since VAC games are unaffected, also because i could play the SP of these games without problems, PB doesnt load for SP unless you specify it to somehow.. Im stumped lol

Try to run the games with V-sync ON....that way, the card will be pumping the appropriate amount of FPS (60 frame per second)...that way, the card won't be running full tilt, so the temperature will be LOWER....

single player is probably locked at 91 FPS by default...most multiplayer gamers crank the FPS a lot more in the MP version of the same game...that MIGHT explain why your card doesn't like MP...only an HYPOTHESIS....

see if it changes something for you....

It's always good to monitor in-game video card temperatures in REAL gaming scenarios...use MSI afterburner (FREE), look for the OSD (onscreen display), display GPU temperature....

That 260 might be jam packed with dust, and doesn't cool well anymore...
