No - they're not equipped to pipe in sound. Or, if I could bring in a large-print paperback to read w/o my glasses. No - moving my arms to turn pages would be a problem. Oh well, there are much worse things to endure and no doubt many of our folks have endured them. Guess I'm stuck with looking at porn before I go in to keep my mind occupied. remember after looking at porn u wont be able to roll over or anything as the third leg will prevent you from it anyways. Even if it is only 2 inches long! Awards

Strong core = strong back. Help you with posture, spinal cord alignment, etc. As for the MRI for 90 minutes - it's not like you are standing up. Perfect place to take a nap. Awards

They pipe music in and ask what my favorite station is. However, the machine is so loud that you can't really hear the music. They try to make you as comfortable as possible on the table by adding extra pillows where needed. As for reading, it's not possible. The machine is too close to your face. you wouldn't be able to turn the page anyway. The open MRI machines are better but not much. They're only partially open on the side. As for spine issues, look for a pain management specialist. I've been seeing one for over 10 years and it's been a life saver. My doctor uses chiropractic maneuvers, injections, physical therapy and tons of pain medications for treatment. He's also taught me how to do everyday tasks differently as well as taught me exercises. I had surgery 10 years ago which I regretted and I have refused any more. Unfortunately, I didn't have much choice at the time. I'm still waiting on technology to catch up and I hope to have my spine (and previous surgery) redone. I've heard that the artificial disks that they're using now are much better than spinal fusion which is what I had done. Fusion causes more disks to herniate and, therefore, more surgeries. Awards

Fusion causes more disks to herniate and, therefore, more surgeries. yeah I saw a special the other day about the new artifical disks if i remember correctly they are a silicone type material, and replace the bad disks.i am hoping to one day get my bad disks replaced, but unfortunately within 20 or so years i wont have a good disk left in my back. gotta love DDD (degenerative disc disease) although most cases see a decrease in pain over the years due to loss of inflammatory tissue. mine is moving from disk to disk. as i lose mobility in an affected disk it causes the next disk to take the load and then causes that one to degrade. OH YEAH Awards
