I have been trying to install CodWaw, with an original game cd and keycode. In the beginning the set up is going good, the keycode is valid and then it starts installing it, when its half way it just stops. Both me and my husband have an own original game and we both have tried eachother games and with both pc's we have the exact same error. I have tried then to install the game through gamershell and there i get the error unvalid keycode, which is wrong cause my keycode is valid, so i abort it.

Have a look at your Taskmanager if the Setup has started the installation of DirectX when stuck (you won't need to install this old version). It should

appear as "dxsetup.exe" or similiar. Kill this process. I had a similar prob with Resident Evil 5.

If you are running Vista or Windows 7 try to run the Setup.exe as Administrator (right click on setup -> "Run as...."

Maybe you have to hold down Shift while right clicking.

So you start your computer insert the game disk autoruns starts the install. You enter your keycode and everything starts. Half way through it hangs on the install. So you reboot and try all that with your hubby's disk and the same thing happens . And then you try it out on his computer trying both disks and it happens again. I got that right ?

You CAN install on ANY drive you want to. but you will likely need to do what was said about going into the cd itself and click on the setup.exe, and right click "run as administrator".

You DO NOT have to use the windows xp compatibility mode. I have mine on d: drive as well, and it works perfectly fine.

But the reason for the error may very well be that it's got something screwed up in your registry. Run CCcleaner for the registry cleaning, and try it again.

I'm on Win7 x64 with UAC turned on as well, I also do not run any of my COD games in any compatibility mode, not sure why everyone thinks you have to.
