LiquidStool Posted July 27, 2013 Member ID: 508 Group: **- Inactive Registered Users Followers: 4 Topic Count: 140 Topics Per Day: 0.03 Content Count: 472 Content Per Day: 0.09 Reputation: 38 Achievement Points: 5787 Solved Content: 0 Days Won: 0 Joined: 09/25/09 Status: Offline Last Seen: February 7, 2016 Birthday: 01/20/1969 Share Posted July 27, 2013 sup i was running a program quite intensively yesterday, happened to glance at my temps and noticed it said cpu was 58c. i have no idea wether thats hot or not for a cpu but it's definitely the hottest i've seen my machine and im guessing it was around that temp for at least 2 hours. anyway a few minutes later it bluescreened, shut down then restarted properly, however the program i was using would not start, just after windows error reporting sent a report, mentioning the program i was using. i checked to see if the program i'd been using had created an error log but it hadn't. when i tried to start it, the hdd light went nuts, like it was trying to start but it never did. looked in task manager, couldn't see anything related. so i try to repair the program by reinstalling it, nothing. so i uninstall it, reinstall it which appears to go ok, same problem, program won't start. get pissed off, uninstall use CC Clean and regedit to remove everything i can find, reinstall, still wont start. as a last resort i install it to a different hard drive and it works fine. wtf? i report it to the developer, they email back and say it sounds like the HDD is on the way out. Not sure about that, everything else works fine. this was on a 1 day old fresh install of windows, no new hardware, no new drivers. could it really be the SSD dying? and what is a reasonable temperature? i'm using a liquid cooled system with i7 processor overclocked to about 20%. That bloody SSD is less than a year old, i thought they were meant to be the dogs bollox? i've been running that program that i think caused the bluescreen for 3 hours now, temp has been rock steady at 51c It was probably caused by some program you just installed or downloaded m8, it might not be the SSD's fault, try to look back and see what you recently downloaded and installed and get rid of it, i know that's not easy but that's one possible solution, it has happened to me a few times when i first got my new PC, it's natural to think your PC has fucked up but it's probably just some shitty program or download, i have never had a problem for well over a year touch wood. The guy i helped earlier had a bsod while gaming,so he sent me his crash dump and it stated that there was a windows 8 driver fault and a faulting application,which was skype so our solution was to uninstall skype,repair windows and try a fresh install of skype and see how it goes.....so it is just a waiting game and a process of illimination. Low voltages can cause all sorts of problems that resemble hardware and software issues. I just went through two weeks of trying to track down why my computer was crashing. I thought it was one of my video cards because the screen would go black and then reboot. Sometimes it would take several hard restarts before the computer would actually start the OS. Using a utility for my motherboard, I discovered I was having low voltage issues. I changed the power supply and everything is as good as new.
