Can anyone out there in computer land tell me why windows shuts down freeze tag and Sniper Ghost Warrior 2. It usually does it when a map is finished. Saying that I must add it happens every now and then.

Well it could be a bevy of things, but it probably is something fairly simple such as you need to run it in some compatibility mode or something. Or maybe even in as an administrator mode! Can you tell us what are the symptoms you see right before it does this?  What do you see while it's doing this such as a blue or black screen? Give is a little more info and we have some pretty sharp peeps here that can probably help you with this challenge!

As Dean said, a bit more information would be helpful.

Is it a "normal" shutdown?

Does this happen when you play games or when the system is idle or when you surf the web?

If it happens while you are plaing check your system temperatures. Use Speccy to monitor them:

Gidday all,

thanks for replying. There's not much to tell really, every now and then right at the end of a game, just before the next map loads windows jumps in and closes the game. When I say every now and then I mean that, it will go ok for maybe 1-3 weeks whatever then all of the sudden there it goes.

It's got me beat.

Dave

Well I don't see it being Kaspersky but you can try turning it off when playing to test. I would go control panel / all control panel items / action center / reliability monitor and see what crashes on the day you play. it would be a red x on the monitor.

I found a post some where on the net. check to see if it applies to you particular shutdown.

This issue can be caused by a conflict with the onboard audio controller on your Nvidia or AMD gpu card and your motherboard audio.

You can try the following uninstall method which will fully disable the audio and should help eliminate the issues you are experiencing.

1. Go into Device Manager- In the Display adapers area right click on the 400/500 series card, and select "Properties" this will give you a listing such as "PCI Bus 3, device 0, function 0" If using multiple cards please check and note each listing.

2. Go under "System Devices", you will see HD audio devices.  Check them to see which one matches your GTX 400 series PCI Bus location. Disable (not uninstall) the one that matches your 400/500 series card.

3. Check under "Sound Devices" and it should no longer be there (this step might or might not require a restart)

Thanks Rookido. I will give a try. So far it's been ok just had one today.

Cheers

Fartalot usually when a computer crashes it will list on your screen the error info! What it is giving you usually is a code that you can google or look up someway! By using or getting that info we may be able to tell you whether you should be worried or not! If you take a screen shot where it will still show it would be marvelous and helpful to eliminate the problem or remove another cause! See if you can get that info for us!

Mine does it too.  I get a black screen that covers 3/4 of my screen, the error code is behind and it won't let me see it.  I have to control/alt/delete and stop WOW to clear it. :(

This is "normal" for COD WAW.  COD4 has its quirks, too.  Just restart the game and away you go.  We all crash between maps from time to time.

To minimize the crashing, it has been found helpful to already have all the maps so the game doesn't have to download it right before you play it.  Frequently, the game will crash going from a map it just downloaded on to the next.  It's just like that; there's no explanation.  To get all the maps for a current rotation (and collect them all over time,) use the XI Downloader which you can find on the Downloads page (on the "More" menu at the top of the site.)

Right, but that's why I said "to minimize the crashing..."  It still happens, but if you have all the maps, it doesn't happen as often as it would if you didn't.  :)

its normal and has no rhyme or reason and is frustrating -happens for me mostly only when chat is on and someone is talking.i then hear an audio loop of them then game crashes and if i shut down cod manualy and then get back into game immediately as im joining i still hear people chatting from ingame before i enter server??weird shit that has never and will never be fixed, just make sure all drivers up to date and your machine is not running too hot-.this problem was so bad with cod waw that i uninstalled that game because it started happening every game .and it started happening more in cod4 so i play that less and play more stable games now with less frustration.gl
