To send your payment, get Verified or link a card

Hello Johnny Dos,

All PayPal accounts have initial limits to increase security and help prevent fraud. To send your payment, please provide some information to help us get to know you.

You can either become a Verified PayPal member to lift your limit, or add a debit or credit card to increase your limit.

Option 1: Become a Verified PayPal member

After you link and confirm a bank account or get approved for PayPal credit, your account will be Verified. You'll be able to send payments more freely with PayPal.

Here's how to link and confirm your bank account:

  1. Log in to your PayPal account and click Get Verified at the top of the page.
  2. Follow the instructions to link your bank account to your PayPal account. We'll deposit 2 small amounts in your bank account to confirm that it's yours.
  3. Check your bank statement in 2-3 days and note the 2 amounts.
  4. Log in to your PayPal account and enter the amounts.

Option 2: Add debit or credit card

When you add a debit or credit card, you'll increase the amount that you can send with PayPal. However, you can't remove the limit without linking and confirming a bank account.

Here's how to add a card:

  1. Log in to your PayPal account and click Profile at the top of the page.
  2. Click My Money, then Update in the "Debit and credit card" section.

Is it genuine Johnny, not a scam is it, "please provide information to help us get to know you" that don't sound right to me, surely they know enough about you anyway if you use them regularly?, i have funds in my paypal account because of stuff i sold on E-Bay and just left them there for the moment but not got any messages like that. They must already have some credit/debit card information for you already if you use them all the time?

Legit, had to do it years ago. You must not have used paypal very much. But after a certain amount of use they bump you up to a different type account and want more info.

Like Maz said above, go directly to the website.  Contact Paypal directly yourself if something isn't right.  Rule #1, never click on a link in an email especially when asking for that kind of information.

Hey all.  This is a legit email.  for one.  Paypal will list your name in the header to prove to show it is them,  Scams usually say valued customer or something along those lines.  What it is saying by validating is that is it is wanting to validate your home location.  You are verifying where  you live.  I do a lot of ebay shopping and other places and it just show the person you are sending money to for whatever reason that you are real and not trying to scam for your info.  if you go to paypal and follow the instructions.  You can do this with without adding another card.  Just follow the get verified.  It is just a security thing pp does.
