Johnny, you really need to use Google and research these outrageous claims before republishing them.

I don't know about personal legal liability over there but those defamed here can and sometimes do

do something about it in the courts...

Have a read of the following and, people, don't be so easily taken in by what you read on the 'net!

WOW! Keggers that's quite a difference isn't it? The truth sometimes isn't so easy to see at first glance but upon a much closer look we may just learn something of value!

i always give to the salvation army....and always will...the rest as far as i'm concerned ....well i won't take hours to find an obscure survey...and i know that those afore mentioned charities are indeed paying their exec's tons...and if you think for a moment that those top fella's work for the goodness of mankind you are sadly mistaken,,,,,and to believe other wise is ludicrous....take a real look..it really isn't that hard with GOOGLE,,,,but in a court of law i don't think google has any say...lmao,,,easy to obtain the charitable contributions without the book cookers getting to it first...just ask fanny may and freddy mac....he he,,,ah yes big buisness,,,they wouldn't decieve any one would they?,,a five minute search by the famous google just showed me that 11 of the top charitable companies make  over 1 million bucks a year...over fifty sites say so..maybe i should make a real search with signed documents lol..as google is telling me lies

The Internet is full of disinformation, spread by people with agendas or those who are mischievous.

At the lower end of the scale are the continual pleas on Facebook to spread garbage due to claimed

"hacking" threats.  At the upper end are articles that could kill or harm people - an example is a

circulating hoax about "cough CPR".  Between these extremes is material such as that above that

could affect charities' abilities to collect funds to help people in need.  The individuals defamed can

fight their own battles but a typhoon victim lacking shelter, food and clothing needs us to put our hands

in our wallets and donate rather than accept inaccurate excuses not to do so.

In the UK, the accounts of individual charities are open to scrutiny via The Charity Commission.

Anyone wishing to determine how a charity spends money on remunerating its staff, for example,

may visit the web site and view the accounts before making a decision as to whether that is excessive.

In Canada and the USA, as far as I can establish from brief searches, this kind of statutory government oversight

isn't there but is being argued for.

I think I'll stick to donating to my local church where I can actually see where the money is going.  And if I don't like it I will put my money elsewhere....

I certainly agree, Keg!  ANYTHING with statistics or a questionable standard of conduct MUST be researched before regurgitating.  OR, barring that, and assuming you simply don't have the time to do the research, ignore it.

This crap is generated by internet trolls to infuriate the easily led.  Don't be a lemming.

This one in particular, has been circulating in endless waves.

The only solid advice to give on charitable giving is to give to something you actually care about.  If you must give "generically," like to some of the organizations listed here that have multiple outreach services, then do what you can to understand more about what the particular organization does so as to have a defined purpose behind your giving.

AND... NEVER GIVE MONEY OVER THE PHONE TO ANYONE THAT CALLS YOU BLINDLY - even if you have every reason to believe they are legit.  YOU should be the one initiating a charitable donation, not someone else panhandling for one.

And consider this...

Mark 12:41-44

New International Version (NIV)

The Widow’s Offering

41 Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. 42 But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.

43 Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 44 They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”

United way has a big presence at my place of business. i refuse to do there raffles or donations due to the fact of what there "Charity" really goes for. if i donate anything (which is rare, I'm broke) i will donate to back stoppers to help support the family of our fallen police officers and fire fighters.
