In fact I shall celebrate having no more reason to watch soccer. I have endured enough suffering by watching and trying to understand why soccer / futbol is so popular. Well, I am still of the opinion that it is a most boring, useless, game. And have you ever seen such Drama Queens on a field for games? They put the NFL to shame with their expressions of joy and suffering. There should be an award for best acting but the nominees list would be endless. An impossible task. Only thing worse might be a home team announcer when a goal is scored.............. surprised many of them don't suffer heart attacks. Hell even Ice Hockey has a penalty for taking a dive, if soccer had one most the team would have been eliminated before 90 minutes are up. Thank God the USA is out, I no longer have to pretend an interest in the game and can get on with my life by playing FPS on line.

Let's face it, we suck at soccer. ANd probably always will. I read today that it has been 14 hours since a striker scored a goal for the US. Aren't strikers supposed to be goal scorers? Apparently none live in the US. Another interesting point I read. In most of the world soccer is the main sport and the best atheletes of those countries naturally gravitate to soccer. In the US soccer is merely an afterthought at best. The best young US athletes gravitate to more popular sports like baseball, basketball, football and many other sports. Soccer is left with second class atheletes. Granted there will be a rare exception now and then. If the above is true it holds little hope for world class soccer in the US.

Us English invented the damn game, so I am told, and we are always expected to do well, but guess what - we sucked total Ass in this World Cup (again) Barely got out of the lightest group in the tournament - needed a win against the country with the smallest population (Slovenia) and barely got it, then got manhandled by a younger, more talented, more aggressive, more hungry (need I go on) team in Germany. We actually held our own and came back to tie it (well, sort of) but the result was inevitable. Most of the good US soccer players play in Europe still, so at least they are exposed to some of the world class talent (not the ones in the English Premier league though - all the talent there is foreign anyway) Lets put it this way - I am officially cured of World Cup fever The only good thing to come out of this is that Ronaldo, the whiniest cry baby in all of professional sports sucked up the joint and is going home. Oh, and I wonder who will get the helping hand in the Germany/Argentina game seeing as they both got freebies from the refs in the last round!!!! The biggest irony is that I drowned my sorrows over the England capitulation with good German Wiessen Beer!!!! - I never even made the connection till wifey pointed it out during her nightmare in game 2 on Sunday (She is Mexican and almost broke the damn TV when the "goal" was scored - Glad she didnt - that shit's expensive) Awards

Toluca had won their home game and only needed a tie in Mexico City to win the championship and tie they did. I have NEVER in my 66 years on earth been in a bar that was as wild as that night with my Mexican friends. The whole game was party time with a noise level to break your ear drums and riotous dancing all over the place including the table tops. When Toluca scored it was pandemonium. You could feel the rise and fall of emotion as the game went on, it is a miracle there were no heart attacks duriing the game. After the game the party moved to the street. Seemed all of Toluca turned out. Know what was nice? No violence, just a real good celebration.

I agree - they love their soccer and they love to party. They leave all the violence to the drug dealers, I guess!!!! I lived there (in Leon) for almost 2 years so I got to know the culture real good. I almost miss it down there Awards
