Hello all I just upgraded from the R7 370 4gig video card to the RX580 8 gig Armor

I installed the latest driver

it plays Fall Out 76 great

However after I launch the COD4MW it is fine in the lobby however when I go into one of the servers it kicks back to desktop with all icons super sized and frozen

I have to do a hard shutdown then reboot until I go back in

Any ideals

ps running Msi B450 Gaming Carbon Pro Ac board, Msi RX580 video, Ryzen 5 2600 cpu, Corsair Vengence 16 gig 3000 MHz dd4, Samsung Evo 970 M2 Nvme ssd , Win 10 64 bit

All which are also new as I just built this pc

Try right clicking on the cod4 mp icon on desktop > properties > compatibility.

Click on "disable full screen optimisations" and see if that does the trick. If not, try also running the game in compatibility mode for windows vista.

none of that worked

it opens to lobby and servers but if I click on one it shuts off super sizes my desktop and hard freezes it

I also tried different res form 640-480, to 1024-768 same thing every time

What is your screen resolution set to in windows? I take it you have tried syncing the game with the desktop resolution?

Are you using steam or a cd version?

Did you use a backup of your old cod players folder at all?

Edit - Also when it crashes do you have any function at all on desktop, such as using the arrow buttons to scroll any open programs, you just can't open or close anything, or is completely frozen.

HARDWARE

are over clocking CPU ?

do have another system to test video card in  sounds that 2D works  fine  but when goes 3D  crashes

may need to re paste heatsink or card has issues

SOFTWARE

first backup your profile  with XI Downloader  and save it

once saved then reinstall game but run .exe as admin for every update patch also.

GPU use a video driver cleaner to remove old driver then use current driver for video card
