I'm running a 24-inch monitor off GeForc 9500 SLI on a quad core with 4GB of system memory so I figure I've got the horsepower to move to a 28-32-inch monitor.

- Is this worth doing?

- Monotor recommendations?

Any bigger than 24" (depending on the distance your sitting from it) means that you actully have to look around your screen to see you health and ammo etc. I use a 24" and have found its the perfect size, i used to own a 32" but i found that it was just too big for me to play properly.

Thanks guys. Going up an inch doesn't seem worth it; and I take your points on larger monitors. Guess I'll save the money for now. Appreciate your responses.

I have my 9800 GT connected to my 46" Bravia via a DVI/HDMI cable. Looks great to me. Of course I'm not sitting 2 feet from the screen either.

So you guys are gaming on a PC connected to an LCD TV? That can't be as sharp an image, can it? Guess you'd have to sit back from it.

Harry,

Being that I have seen everything from 17 all the way to 42 inch computer displays, I would say you would be good with a 30" or 32". You would find it worth your money. Anything larger would be overkill. I have a 27" and I'm very happy but would have prefered a 30". Make sure its high Res!!!!

Well for one a tv would have lower pixel density so the closer you are the worse it looks. and then there's size I like to see all my monitor so my head doesn't move just my eye's much faster to repond to the game. Once you move your head your missing part of the screen. Then ther's screen reseloution. the best you can do with a 1080p tv is 1920 x 1080 if you take the natural resolution of your game it would have to be expanded to fit so you lose alot of detail. Last I think the refresh rate for any signle pushed to a tv is 60 hertz ? thats real slow for gaming I'm sure your up over 80 so thats the scoop from me while I have my coffee Big screens great for watching tv not porn giant penises running amock is just b rate sci fi

If you go big, consider the market offerings. If you go beyond 28" your graphic card(s) will need to keep up with resolutions greater than 1600 X 1200. They just don't do as well over 1600 X 1200. In many cases you need dual or more video cards to drive such monitors. Refresh rates suffer as well. Market offerings with monitors greater or equal to 30 inches have double the refresh rates of the smaller monitors. Under the hood the monitor is actually driven the same way you would drive two seperate monitors, which extends the horizontal refresh rate by a factor of two.
