1.6 to 1.7

so, i reinstalled my game, and it said i needed 1.7 to play on the servers. when I use the patch recommended on this forum it says that it's a digital copy and i should refer to the distributor.

can anyone help me out?

when install need to use admin rights on update by right click

1.7  install.exe then select run as admin

Some say you need to go through all the updates, one by one. I've always just found dropping the 1.7 exe in the CoD4 file and have not had issues (Not sure about other versions.. CoD4 only). As Crunch is saying, you may have to have admin rights. All the files are in XI download section though. 

Once you get it up and running normal. Copy the CoD4 file and save to disk or email. You can avoid these issues. At the very least, save the 1.7  exe and profiles. Mods will always reinstall upon joining any server. 

Edit, Install PunkBuster files too if needed. Even though it's not supported anymore, some servers still require it.

have tried in steam right game icon then properties then  locale files then check intrgrty of game 

steam is a pain  try remove XI mod from mods folder then try to connect to XI server and let download  load mod 

or how you updated to 1.7 ?

Steam gives you 1.8 you may just need to downgrade to 1.7 easy to do:

you need to go to your files and remove the 1.8 and replace it with that patch or download cod4x it works better and you dont have to fuck about with files

1.7 is only one patch you need 1,6 that contains all of them 1.1 til 1.6   then just update to 1.7

 

on a cd version this is the only way  you NEED the 1.6 patch  this is the way on steam it might be diffrent becuase it goes to 1.8 instead

but really all you have to do is join any mod when you are on 1.8 and cod 4x will be installed so you can join games in 1.8 and 1.7

Here i had COD4X installed from one of the server run by it so now i can go on XI server worked great since.
