  1. Good news! Also, getting more biopsies and scans and such as recommended by the docs is a good thing, best to know asap about things nowadays with modern treatments and all the sooner they know the better, and what a relief it is getting the "all clear" news, then you can check that worry off the old "what am I going to worry about today" list and move on to more important fun stuff you know, like..... gaming.
  2. ooooooo HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME!!! If never gone to the British Museum in London before GO! So so so so much to see it boggles the mind. If you are driving everywhere, if you have time to swing over to see the ancient henge and stone circles of Avebury in Wiltshire, if you are into that sort of thing. It is cool, cause it is like Stonehenge, but primitive and you can walk all around the area and actually touch the stones.) https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/avebury/history/
  3. We have been making Rum cocktails this summer too! The grapefruit .... hmmmmm too bitter for me? I put instead a teaspoon of grenadine (as well as that cherry liquor which is OMG yummy!) and pineapple and orange juice. OH, and that is not enough rum.... I put in Meyer's Dark Rum and Coconut Rum for a total of 3 oz rum................ we make them then party at the pool - feet in water. YEAH BABY YEAH! Life is a cocktail... enjoy! Basil's Caribbean Rum Punch 2 oz Dark Rum (I use Meyers) 1 oz coconut rum 1/2 lime juice fresh squeezed (per drink) 2 oz pineapple juice 2 oz orange juice splash of grenadine (i put in about a teaspoon) 1/2 oz Maraschino Cherry Liqueur lime slice for garnish and if you have one, a maraschino Cherry
  4. but wait there is more.... What will happen if the Earth's magnetic poles reverse? Will we have a catastrophe on our hands? Geological records suggest that in Earth’s long history, hundreds of magnetic pole reversals have occurred, with the last one, known as the Brunhes-Matuyama, happening roughly 780,000 years ago. Many scientists believe that we are in the early stages of the next one, which will occur when the iron atoms in Earth’s liquid outer core become reverse-aligned in such a quantity that they dominate the rest of the core’s atoms. Reverse-alignment happens in patches and spreads, with the fastest growing patch currently residing underneath Brazil and the South Atlantic ocean. Potential Magnetic Pole Reversal Effects on Humans What are the potential outcomes of swapped North and South Poles? Compass needles would be wrong, and animals that use Earth's magnetic field for navigation — such as birds, salmon, sea turtles, whales and butterflies — could get temporarily disoriented, according to National Geographic. Mitchell warns that a reversal could destroy anything electronic, including home appliances, satellites, wireless devices and the electric grids that make all these items work. In an essay on Undark.org, Mitchell wrote, "We have blithely built our civilization's critical infrastructure during a time when the planet's magnetic field was relatively strong, not accounting for the field's bent for anarchy." What about magnetic pole reversal effects on humans? With a weak electromagnetic field, radiation from space could possibly make some regions of Earth uninhabitable and cause entire species to go extinct. But first, according to Mitchell, we would have problems with sensitive orbiting satellites, which control electric grids and could cause "a domino run of blackouts that could last for decades."
  5. About the North pole switching to the South pole, and the South pole switching to the North pole... https://www.astronomy.com/science/when-north-goes-south-is-earths-magnetic-field-flipping/ What happens in a pole shift? The pole shift hypothesis describes a change in location of these poles with respect to the underlying surface – a phenomenon distinct from the changes in axial orientation with respect to the plane of the ecliptic that are caused by precession and nutation, and is an amplified event of a true polar wander. When was the last Earth pole shift? around 780,000 years ago During a pole reversal, Earth's magnetic north and south poles swap locations. This happens on average every 300,000 years or so, but the last flip occurred around 780,000 years ago, according to NASA.Jul 3, 2023 Are we due for a magnetic reversal? We may be due for another reversal in the next few thousand years, because it has been 780 thousand years since the last reversal, because the Earth's magnetic field is weakening, and because there are strange patterns in the south Atlantic that suggest dramatic local changes in the magnetic field are taking place.
  6. OK folks, stop freaking dying.
  7. I posted this before, but I am really, really, REALLY hoping this will be on you tube. I would love to watch this game. (And root for the girls of course, and play a drinking game too.) Could it be LIVE? I would donate funds to get that up and running to whomever does it. What a hoot!
  8. Well this sounds hilarious... I want to watch this live, is that going to be possible? What fun! I want to see this. Could it be put live on you tube so that those of us who watch could see it on our huge TV's?
  9. Yes, it is horrible what has happened to little towns around East Tennessee, Western N and S Carolina, as well as Florida. Climate change (the warmer the earth the bigger the storms, the worse the droughts, the larger the snow storms, more widespread forest fires, etc.) is happening. We (humans civilization time frame) were living in what I would call the goldilocks time... just the right temperatures for humans to thrive. I think that if we prepare for these changes we can adapt, humans are great at adapting. So when a town has to rebuild, hopefully they learned to not build in a flood zone, to build UP, to fireproof buildings on and on and on. Simple solutions like --> Elevate your home: Raising your home above the base flood elevation can protect it from flooding in areas prone to rising sea levels and storm surges. Reinforce your roof: Installing hurricane straps or clips, sealing roof decks, and using wind-resistant shingles can help protect your home from high winds and storms. https://www.forbes.com/sites/nextavenue/2021/02/18/how-you-can-prepare-for-climate-change/ Best advice I can give is for everyone to have insurance... If you live in a flood zone you must have flood insurance. As for everyone suffering from Helene Hurricane, bless you all, I hope help comes quickly.
  10. And to think we are considering moving back to the DC area this time on the chesapeake bay .......... I know......... but I miss it. https://www.woodwellclimate.org/how-climate-change-is-affecting-hurricanes/?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw9eO3BhBNEiwAoc0-jQNSCE1mTLx-Tcv2m-kgijsCrEgxIXSoPm9fbBT5Y88u0yzTc4pQ0xoCHdYQAvD_BwE
  11. imho, the admins and slightly under them in rank mods are our police monitoring the servers and keeping order. that said, this is just a game and we are just playing, so seems to me the rules are more like guidelines, and we need to give our admins and mods our respect and observe them in game. if they say don't do something, then don't do it. if they don't run a vote cause you don't like that particular map and ask for it, maybe they did not see the message or whatever, let it be. i know this is war gaming and we shoot at each other day after day in game and folks can get upset about this and that, but we are here gaming (with this group of rather silly folks) for fun and to relax and forget about the real world and to try to laugh and be happy. Woot woot, let's be happy! I love this silly group, what a great clan it is, thanks Rugger! NOW. Off to shoot and kill ya'll. Yeehaw.
  12. Thank you LOCO, and please hurry back. Thank you for all your mods to the maps, for all your leadership and expertise. Big hug.
  13. Huh? Tarantulas live in a variety of habitats around the world, including deserts, rainforests, and scrubland: Burrows: Tarantulas often live in underground burrows that they line with silk webbing to keep out dirt and sand. Ground: Some tarantulas live on the ground under rocks, logs, or tree bark. Trees: Some tarantulas live in webbed burrows in trees. Caves: Some species of tarantulas live in caves and have adapted to be blind, relying on sensory hairs on their legs to sense their surroundings. Crops: Some tarantula species live in crops like bananas and pineapples. Tarantulas are found on all continents except Antarctica, but most are found in South America. Their color and behavior vary depending on their environment. Tarantulas are nocturnal hunters that eat insects, frogs, toads, mice, and small birds. They use their venom to paralyze their prey and then suck up the juices with their mouthparts. While their venom is fatal to their prey, it's only comparable to a bee sting for humans. oh come on, that is a beanie baby not a REAL tarantula, right?...
  14. Thanks for sharing, be safe have a great time, meet interesting people, be the tumbleweed we all wanna be.
