I have a chance to buy a Gateway 42 inch Plasma tv from a friend who is moving from the area. the link is for the tv specs and it is  in perfect condition, he is moving and needs to sell fast since it wont fit in his car. I can pick it up for $200.00 and have a DVD player and Home Theater to hook it to and our current cable box will play HDTV without us paying more because of the DVR my wife has. Is this a good deal so I don't have to watch Football on a 27 in old tube TV? Please advise but it seems like a screamin deal to me.

good deal , plasma tv's are still the best tv's , and check the prices online , the plasma's are still the most expensive tv's .

if you are sure the tv is in good condition , buy it .

Buy it quick, before he changes his mind. If it lasts a year it's worth 200 bucks... just for football season alone.

+1 Plasma has had it problems from day one. The are one of the top types of tv's to have burn in problems. But hell, for $200 you can't go wrong.

Good deal PMan and I think that Burn In issue they had is no longer happening. Also they make them anti-glare,at least the newer models. But for $200 bucks I don't think you can loose with what all you are getting.

unfortunately the burn  problem still exists with all plasma tv's the best solution dont use them as a comp monitor.  other than that one flaw plasmas are awesome.  it does take 5-6 hours to burn one so it really takes a major flub to burn one

Well we bought it and got it worked up and it has full HD 1080 and a great picture. The wife is stoked but I did tell her I am going to be watching lots more football in the living room. Thanks for the advice and we just couldnt afford a new one but this should do great.
