Have you run, "Can You Run It?"? Can You Run It

I don't have BF3 but according to this site, it says I can and I have only a GTS 450.  It is not the 'publishers' recommended card but it still passes so I would say that your dual GTX 460 should be able to so I am guessing you have something else going on.  This is straight off the EA site.

MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
OS: WINDOWS VISTA (SERVICE PACK 2) 32-BIT
PROCESSOR: 2 GHZ DUAL CORE (CORE 2 DUO 2.4 GHZ OR ATHLON X2 2.7 GHZ)

HARD DRIVE: 20 GB
GRAPHICS CARD (AMD): DIRECTX 10.1 COMPATIBLE WITH 512 MB RAM (ATI RADEON 3000, 4000, 5000 OR 6000 SERIES, WITH ATI RADEON 3870 OR HIGHER PERFORMANCE)
GRAPHICS CARD (NVIDIA): DIRECTX 10.0 COMPATIBLE WITH 512 MB RAM (NVIDIA GEFORCE 8, 9, 200, 300, 400 OR 500 SERIES WITH NVIDIA GEFORCE 8800 GT OR HIGHER PERFORMANCE)

You have something wrong, your system is WAY better than mine and I play it just fine at 1080i (1920x1080).  Whatever the issue is, it can't be your hardware.  Here is my system...

Win7 64bit

Intel Q6600 G0 stepping

4GB Crucial Ballistix gamer ram

SATA HD 7200rpm

Nvidia 8800gts (not sli)

Enter the game and turn all your settings to low, AA off etc if that doesn't work you may have a software issue.  Whatever it is you have a far superior machine, there is no reason for you not be able to run the game in a playable state.

Evil,

There is JUST something wrong with a software implementation (driver or whatever).

I know it's a piss off, but you'll get thru...

Your cards are enough to run the game at high settings at 1680 X 1050, maybe even 1080P...

I would recommend running driversweeper, scrap all nVIDIA drivers, reboot, and install 285.62 again.....

Unles you thing one of your card is unstable for some reason, it's NOT the cards....your dual 460s are as strong as a single GTX580....period.

Unless you try to run all maxed out (Ultra settings+2560 X 1600 rez) you're golden....

Now, gotta find the software glitch!

Cheers!

MOFO

Some people that are having problems with this game have had some luck turning off SLI or backing off on the overclock.

I have been having the same problem I even had a couple of blue screens.

Today I had a friend of mine who is one smart ass geek check out my system and found out that although I have the latest drivers for everything I will not be able to play it untill I do a complete Format of my HD and start again.

And the shit of it all is.....Its my fault for being stupid....When I built my comp I installed windows 7 32bit . Which does not support the amount of memory I have, also It does not allow me to get the best out of my cpu or gpu and means I am screwd because it causes a conflict between my Bios which does recognise the memory and windows which does not.. Hense the crashing and blue screen failure's

Well, SLI gets disabled by default on new driver install, so you have to re-enable it.

My 560Ti's in SLI are factory overclocked, like Monkey's cards, and I have no issues....strange anyway...gotta be a monkey in the case lol...

BALDIE...sad to hear that you got Win7 32 bits (which sees 3.2gig of RAM only)

i have to say ..i play the game and it runs just fine ..as long as i stay a way from the 64 man servers ..and i have 2 260 oc ..2500k  16 gig of 1600 .so there has to be some thing up.. that you will get through..i did lower the 1920 over 1080 ..but that did not help ..but like i said if i play on a hardcore server with 32 or 40 ..it runs sweet

I believe its an Nvidia Driver issue, I have the new one and my video driver experiences random crashes then recovers, even when im not in a game.

your hardware will run it period!!!! I run everything on ultra, x16, 2xmssa, motion blur off(gives me headaches) @ over 60 fps on 1900x1200. I'm running I7 [email protected] and 2 470's in sli overclocked to 740 core, 6 gig of 1600 barley oc'd so really close to your set-up. Sounds to me like you need to bump some voltages  up a little on your overclock.  Are you using 3x4 gig stick or 6x2 gig sticks of ram? Cause 6 sticks will put alot more stress on the Imc of the cpu, and this game is still full of memory leaks. What type of crashes just to desktop, bsod, hard locks or what?  moebetta I would delete your drivers and reinstall using clean install and only install the main driver and physx parts of the driver, I got those to and this helped me. BTW you cant just roll back nvidia drivers anymore it will fuck them up bad.

It appears that there are a good number of people with gtx460 and gtx560 cards on the Nvidia forums that are having crashing problems with the newest drivers. Most have rolled back to their previous drivers and no longer have the issue, not good for BF3 though. If a reinstall does not work, try an older driver.Seems as though Nvidia needs another driver update.
